Suddenly it’s the Coronavirus and not the China Virus. Suddenly we’re all in this together. Suddenly the Republican party is calling for people to show empathy. Suddenly it’s clear none of them cared until it affected them. YOU never mattered to him or them.
@TeamFreeWillBT I also find it kind of creepy that so many people’s attendance at conventions hinges on them being allowed to touch strangers that they like 😶
In the era of metoo, I'm appalled to see so many people in this fandom support pushing other people's boundaries IN THEIR WORKPLACE!
Someone being a celebrity & male doesn't mean you should push against their consent, especially when they've explicitly stated said boundaries.
@DementedMinx @JayAndJack290 Exactly, and honestly as someone who works in & is studying public health, fan conventions are a nightmare. I love them, I’ve been to them, but they’re really pretty risky. I wish twitter didn’t have character limits so I could explain all the issues
Good it’s so infuriating being someone who works in public health watching people complain about measures designed to keep them & their favourite actors safe 😬😬 so many people complaining have no idea what they’re talking about
@MonarchMish Are they happy that people are sad? Or happy that safety precautions are being put in place. Because while people may not get to touch their favourite strangers, it’s still overall a good thing
The fact that so many people’s attendance at a convention is contingent on whether or not they get to touch a bunch of pretty strangers is also fairly disturbing. They’re cool actors. I like them too. But there is definitely something creepy about the level of indignance here
Public health officials sometimes have to be the bad guy. I cannot believe so many people are bent out of shape because they can’t touch up strangers for money. Creation is doing what’s best for everyone here- actors and attendees
@AmyinSydney@DragonEmbers Panels are still pretty risky. Not for the actors, but for each other. Microphones are some of the grossest fomites that exist- you’re touching and talking into them and it’s not very sanitary at all
@_McKenzie13_ That goes both ways, too. The actors go to lots of conventions- that means lots of airports, lots of hotels, lots of airplanes. Those are all places where likelihood of contracting an illness is high due to the intermixing of people from many locations
@_McKenzie13_ Honestly i disagree. Conventions are already a public health nightmare and in the middle of an epidemic the last thing you’d want to do is allow people to be exposed to that many potentially sick people
Happy new year I celebrated by going to sleep at a reasonable time, setting an alarm for twelve, saying happy new year to some local geese, and going back to bed
