@the_hyperloop@Danny_jaywon@RecruitmentPq Retirement is a constant in both public and private organizations, so I don't see retirement as a big deal. However, what's your context of ability to switch?
@Danny_jaywon@RecruitmentPq No retired civil servant will retire and start looking for job in the corporate world again. Both the sector with their pros and cons, anyone venturing into either of them knows what he want and what he's capable to offer. It's discretional and not a miss
@Danny_jaywon@daddytweens@RecruitmentPq Your question tends to curry one over the other. You were very detailed in describing the role at Access Bank, but you only mentioned the ministry name and no role. Kindly include the job role at the ministry as well, so a fair and well-informed answer can be given
As the Minister of Interior, I joined key stakeholders in Lagos today for a critical high-level emergency preparedness meeting convened on the directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The meeting led by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, brought together the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), other health authorities, security agencies, and emergency response officials to review Nigeria’s readiness and strengthen preventive measures against the Ebola virus disease.
While there is currently no confirmed case of Ebola in Nigeria, we are not leaving anything to chance.
At the Ministry of Interior, our focus remains firm on border control and robust screening at all points of entry; airports, seaports, and land borders. We are enhancing monitoring and surveillance protocols using available technology and structured decision-making mechanisms to prevent the virus from entering the country.
As government, we will continue to work seamlessly as a team with state governments, the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, and all relevant agencies to ensure this threat does not rear its ugly head in our dear nation.
Together, drawing lessons from our successful containment of the 2014 Ebola outbreak, we are confident that Nigeria will once again rise to the challenge and protect our country.
Reforms that changed the narrative.
Resilience that stayed the course.
Results Nigerians can see.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Ministry of Interior is redefining service, security, and national progress.
#RenewedHope
There is a certain energy in a room full of people who have stopped asking whether change is possible and started showing what it looks like. That was the feeling today at the International Civil Service Conference (ICSC) 2026, themed "Reforms, Resilience and Results." Nigeria's public service is no longer debating transformation. It is delivering it.
It was an honour to address this distinguished gathering of leaders and public service professionals. The occasion was graced by Honourable Ministers, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, ably represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
In my remarks, I emphasised that business as usual has no place in 21st-century public service. True transformation begins with clarity on "what is," a clear vision of "what ought to be," and the courage to execute the "how."
Building on the reforms we have been driving at the Federal Ministry of Interior since 2023, we have demonstrated that meaningful change is possible. We established a world-class centralised passport personalisation centre in Abuja, the first since 1963, capable of producing thousands of secure passports per hour.
We introduced the E-Visa platform, significantly reducing processing times and projecting close to 200,000 approvals this year. Additionally, through the SIMAS (Centralised Interior Management and Administration System), we have integrated border control, visa, and passport systems, creating a robust database of over 220 million records.
In our Correctional Centres, strategic skill profiling, academic programmes, and rehabilitation initiatives have reduced recidivism dramatically from 20,000 in 2023 to 1,200 in 2025. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has equally recorded strong results in the fight against illegal mining.
These achievements did not come from inherited systems but from deliberate innovation, inter-agency collaboration, and citizen-centred governance. Data, accountability, and digital transformation remain at the heart of our progress.
I commend the organisers of ICSC 2026 for providing this important platform for reflection and knowledge sharing. We are not yet where we aspire to be, but by the grace of God, we are no longer where we used to be.
In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Ministry of Interior remains fully committed to delivering efficient, secure, and technology-driven public services that restore trust and build a greater Nigeria.
Every nation arrives at a defining moment when the decisions made in rooms of power begin to echo across generations. For Nigeria, today may well be one of those moments.
At the Federal Ministry of Education on Nigeria Education Data Infrastructure, it became clear that this country is no longer simply talking about reform; it is building the architecture for it.
It was an honour to join other distinguished leaders, including the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai; the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; UNICEF representatives, scholars, and envoys at the invitation of our host, the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
In my remarks, I congratulated His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his exceptional ability to identify and deploy talent where it is most needed. Moving a seasoned professional like Dr. Alausa from the Ministry of Health to Education is proving to be a masterstroke for generational transformation.
What I witnessed today is far more than a presentation; it is a fundamental shift. The Ministry of Education is migrating from a fragmented analogue system to an automated, data-driven, and efficient model.
This initiative will enable us to ask the right questions and deliver precise solutions on critical issues such as out-of-school children, targeted resource allocation, and measurable outcomes.
Data is the bridge between what is and what ought to be. From our experience at the Ministry of Interior, we have seen its transformative power. In 2023, we faced a high rate of recidivism in our Correctional Centres. Through robust data systems, skill-set audits, entrepreneurship training, and strategic rehabilitation programmes, we have recorded significant reductions and are working relentlessly towards our target of zero recidivism.
The same data foundation will strengthen education, enhance citizenship integrity, improve human capital development, and support national security. This is how Nigeria will successfully transition from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy. Quality education remains the foundation for producing world-class professionals and driving socio-economic development.
I congratulate Dr. Tunji Alausa and the entire Federal Ministry of Education team for this bold and timely reform. You have done this not only for the Ministry but for the future of our dear nation.
In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, we remain partners in delivering lasting impact.
Today, I received a delegation from the Embassy of the United States of America in Nigeria at my office. The delegation was led by Mr. Tim Smith, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., and included Ms. Pamela Hack, Country Consular Coordinator, and Ms. Jane Jensen, Consular Chief.
The roundtable discussion focused on strategies to consolidate the long-standing relationship between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the United States of America. Deliberations also explored modalities for deepening bilateral collaboration across key areas of mutual interest, reaffirming both nations’ commitment to a strong strategic partnership.
Today, I received Nigerian Ambassador Designate to China and former Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd.), CFR, on a courtesy visit.
His vast experience as former Chief of Army Staff remains an invaluable asset to our dear nation.
Distinguished @BTOofficial
Your impact on my life is one I do not take for granted. Your kindness, support, and unwavering belief in me have helped shape my journey in ways words can hardly capture. I’m deeply grateful for all you’ve done and continue to do.

Last week, I received a delegation of the Ladies' Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), led by the President, Dr. Lami Onayi Ahmed.
The visit came ahead of Nigeria's historic hosting of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), a prestigious Pan-African Ladies Golf Championship.
In recognition of our shared commitment to sports development and women's empowerment, the Ladies' Golf Association of Nigeria presented me with this beautiful Appreciation Plaque. I am truly honoured by this gesture, not as a personal achievement, but as a reflection of the collective work we are doing in the Ministry of Interior.
As a government, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that promote sports development, increase women's participation in sports, and strengthen sports diplomacy across Africa.
Winning the Vanguard Newspaper Personality of the Year Award is an encouragement to do more. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has provided a fertile ground for innovation to thrive and we remain committed to it.
The silence from the Ondo State Government, whether from the Governor, his commissioners, or every aide connected to environmental matters, is a painful sign that the system has failed us. we have never been this unfortunate!
My brother and friend, Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe (SAN), the President of the Nigerian Bar Association paid me a courtesy visit this afternoon in my office.
He was delighted to visualise the tracking systems we have put in place to monitor the reforms we have initiated across all the agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
Also today, I received Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, OFR, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), accompanied by Federal Commissioners, on a courtesy visit to my office.
Our discussions centred on strengthening inter-agency collaboration across migration management, border security, and national economic development, with emphasis on efficiency in revenue allocation and outcomes that serve Nigeria's broader interests.
I also highlighted the ongoing reforms within the Ministry of Interior aimed at projecting Nigeria's image as a welcoming and secure destination for legitimate economic activities,
noting that trust and investor confidence are largely shaped by the quality of experiences at our borders.
The Ministry of Interior remains fully committed to continued collaboration with RMAFC in developing policies that advance the best interests of Nigeria and its people.
