Supporting nurses on the picket line for fair pay & safe working conditions
It’s an indictment on the Tories that workers have to campaign in sub zero temperatures for what they deserve
I raised the need for a deal that meets the needs of workers with the British Govt today
Nurses should not have take industrial action for fair pay & safe working conditions.
They are entitled to work in a safe environment with safe staffing levels & fair pay for their essential work.
The British government needs to properly fund our health service & health workers
The people sitting years waiting on treatment deserve better. Nursing staff didn’t walk away from their patients during this pandemic. We asked during the strike for political leaders not to let patients down again. Ignored again.
I’m finding it hard to stomach Dominic Raab defending @BorisJohnson & Downing St as a “cockpit for people working phenomenally hard under phenomenal strain.”
Oh really? Try 13 hour shifts in full PPE. Try iPad farewells. Try terror & grief & trauma & horror.
You have NO idea.
A Warning from NI’s largest health trust of likely changes to how some services are delivered and possible redeployment of staff in order to deal with current peak of virus. @BelfastTrust @drcathyjack tells staff it’s a “temporary but significant challenge” @BBCNewsNI
We had 3 covid admissions to the ICU same day, all on a ventilator. 2 young, unvaccinated. The 3rd, & oldest who has multiple medical issues was double vaccinated.
Guess who is off the vent & out of ICU?
HINT: Exactly what we've been screaming from the rooftops: vaccines work!

There’s been another large turnout at Covid-19 vaccination centres on the second day of the Department of Health’s push for more people to get vaccinated. Hundreds queued this afternoon outside centres in Craigavon and Newry. Our correspondent Mark Simpson reports.
Complaining that you got COVID despite being vaccinated is like complaining your ribs hurt when you've been shot in the chest wearing body armour.
The body armour is the reason you can still complain.
** Trust Staff **
We are currently experiencing pressures in the system and would appeal for any Trust staff who can help out this evening to contact their Department Manager.
We are under extreme pressure in the RVH & Mater as we care for an increasing number of Covid19+ patients, alongside emergency admissions. We are asking for help from our Trust nursing staff to work tonight & overnight & ask those available to work tonight to ring 07825 140 173
As leaders, every situation we face and every person we encounter will be unique. But we can increase the odds of choosing the right thing to do if we remember these ten things about people: https://t.co/w7nyRM1SnT By @wallybock
Intensive care staff have been particularly affected due to sustained exposure to death and suffering over the past 12 months, with many feeling "life is not worth living"

This activist says Irish language speakers have been treated like ‘second-class citizens’ in Northern Ireland — but movements like @dreamdearg are rallying to change that
No doctor or nurse ever imagined they'd be in this position and they power through because that's what the country has asked of them. Overworked, underpaid superheroes. Really the best of us. #RTEInvestigates
