My god our politicians are a sorry lot. I know that Labour don't care about me any more but how do they expect to win an election if they continue to try to please only a handful of wavering voters rather than the people who have voted for them all their adult lives.

I finished reading #DemonCopperhead yesterday and I'm not sure what I think about it other than it's certainly a page-turner. On the tube two different people told me how brilliant it was. I think I might be in a minority here.
@ViragoBooks I bought The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood from John Menzie's on Princes Street in Edinburgh when I was a student in 1980. It cost ยฃ2.50 which was quite a lot for a broke student but I have never regretted it and I still have the same copy.
@JacquiWine I found an old Penguin edition of this book in Portobello Market more than 30 years ago and I have been reading and re-reading Elizabeth Taylor ever since.
I am finding this story about the Titanic fascinating - my great-grandfather was part of the crew that delivered the ship from Belfast to Southampton. Luckily he declined the offer to stay on board for the maiden voyage.
