The MilEng Air Manoeuvre Taskforce supporting @16AirAssltBCT, @11Group_RAF & @UKJFHQ operations in Sudan included @airbornesappers, @33engrregt, @1MWD_Reg & @20WorksGroupRE, & was further sp’d by the wider @Proud_Sappers network, inc @28EngrRegt & @bfcyprus, a great team 💪🏼!

Once the team completed the airfield repairs @20WorksGroupRE surged a specialist team forward to provide a technical account of the runway and assure the work which we can share with partner nations who intend to use the runway in the future.

A team deployed to Sudan to conduct urgent airfield damage repair as part of the UK Joint Task Force.

The airfield was being used to evacuate Entitled People by multiple nations. This is the first time Airfield Damage Repair has conducted on Operations since the Falklands War.

The team deployed as part of the @16AirAssltBCT Air Manoeuvre Task alongside @RoyalMarines under @UKJFHQ and supported by personnel from @24CdoRE and support from 11 Group @RoyalAirForce and 529 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Air Support) @Proud_Sappers.

16AABCT uses quad-bikes to move ammo, water & casualties at the fwd edge of the battlefield. However, existing mobility sp solutions (e.g MGCC) are too cumbersome for these Lt Role gps. Inflatable walkways provide one answer + many other uses. Each quad trl fits 4. 🧵4/8

51 Para Sqn has been experimenting to improve their MilEng support to very high readiness, air manoeuvre operations. Capability issues identified during combined arms trg were defined, prioritised and resourced in order to test solutions. A thread 🧵 1/8.

LWTs (on SLDT+Kings Trl) can be a bulky, visible & qual’ heavy package to dig-in Lt Role forces. We’ve shown a CAT257B & ancils can be moved on a 6T truck using COTS ramps – a comparatively compact config, and a 0.6m COTS bucket makes digging only 5-10% slower than a LWT. 🧵 7/8
