The hardest part of feedback in primary education is deciding what matters most and what to do next. Read more in our latest blog.

Whole class feedback reduces what’s written, but not what’s carried. The real work sits in teachers’ thinking.

Whole class feedback saves writing, but not time. 30 mins per class adds up fast across a week. The thinking is still there.

🌱 May is National Share A Story Month. 📚
Theme this year is Once Upon a Storytime, which is a nice reminder that reading aloud still matters.
There’s a book list and ideas ready to go.
Pick a good story and enjoy it with your class.

@BarnardosEduCom Couldn't agree more with this.
We find that when we lead with relationships, everything else just seems to click into place. It's proper foundational stuff, isn't it?
@SamStrickers181 Totally agree, Sam. Some folks forget that 'Headship' isn't just a title, it's a monumental undertaking with unique pressures. A bit more honesty and a lot less judgment would go a long way in supporting future leaders.
@SlatteryMr Oh, that's just the best, most heartwarming thing! I had a similar moment once when a little one drew me a picture of us as superheroes. Those are the moments you really treasure, aren't they? Good luck with the new head role!
@Catlin_Tucker 100% agree. Courage matters, but we often hear from teachers that it's much easier to take that risk when you know someone has your back. 🩵
@AlexJQuigley@ReadingShanahan Really interesting point. The combined use piece is often the bit that gets missed. Writing about reading is where understanding really sharpens.
#LiteracyLeaders - There's two useful Literacy Trust CPD sessions coming up at the end of the month.
29th April on leading reading for pleasure across school
30th April on inclusive libraries with an RNIB focus
Both are free and practical.
Good ones for literacy leads or anyone trying to move reading beyond a single event.

🚨 Attention Headteachers in the UK 🚨
I'm looking for a broad range of school leaders to write articles for a BRAND NEW education magazine.
Email [email protected] for more information.
Thanks in advance!
22 to 23 April is a handy literacy double.
Earth Day followed by World Book Night.
Ready made hooks for reading and writing, plus a national Reading Hour.
Sometimes the simple things work best.
