Palakpakan mo sila kahit talo, kasi babalik pa sila.

In the end, it’s becoming more and more obvious that, for some people, their distaste for everything happening in Philippine volleyball right now is rooted less in the issues themselves and more in their deep hatred for one woman: Alyssa Valdez.
You can’t claim to be fighting for what’s right while openly hoping for the downfall of the current Alas team and the humiliation of the Philippines on the international stage.
That said, I also disagree with those insisting that the current Alas lineup is already better—in terms of overall skill and chemistry—than the previous pool. Arguably, the talent and potential of the original Alas core was the strongest collection of players the Philippines has assembled in recent years. That’s exactly why it’s disappointing and heartbreaking that we’ve reached this point, where many of them chose not to play this season, possibly because of circumstances they had to endure.
But this is where we are now. A new team was formed because someone still had to represent the country in the AVC. We can all say, “Dapat yung OG pa rin,” but the reality is they declined this time. I’m sure many of them wanted to wear the flag again, but perhaps not under the circumstances only they truly know.
The truth is, none of us knows the full story. There has been no official statement, no formal complaint from the players, and no complete account from those involved. But you don’t have to be the smartest person in the room to realize that something wasn’t right.
What we should also be clear about is this: the new team never campaigned to replace the OG. They never claimed they deserved the spot more. The decision was ultimately made by the PNVF. They simply answered the call because they, too, wanted the honor of wearing the Philippine jersey and competing for the country. And honestly, isn’t that a dream any athlete would have?
This “OG Alas vs. New Alas” narrative is making us forget who should actually be held accountable. The players are not each other’s enemies. They’re on the same side.
The only side worth taking is the side of every athlete who has sacrificed to represent the Philippines. Set aside personal vendettas and misplaced hate. If we truly want Philippine volleyball to move forward, let’s stop tearing down the players and start demanding better for all of them. 🇵🇭🙏

i took a 45-minute uber ride home from the airport last night after a brutal, three-day business trip.
i was completely emotionally and physically drained, and my social battery was at absolute zero.
when i got into the car, the driver.. an older guy named kabir.. didn't say the usual "how was your flight?" or turn on the radio.
instead, he just handed me a small, laminated piece of paper attached to the back of his headrest.
it was a literal "ride menu."
it said:
1. *the silent ride* (total quiet, no pressure to talk).
2. *the therapist ride* (if you need to vent about your day, i am listening).
3. *the tourist ride* (i will tell you cool facts about the city).
4. *the radio ride* (we just listen to old jazz and coast).
i smiled, pointed to number 1, and whispered, "silent ride, please. thank you."
he gave me a warm nod in the rearview mirror, adjusted the AC, and drove the entire 45 minutes in absolute, beautiful silence.
it was the most peaceful, therapeutic boundary i’ve experienced all year. i felt my entire nervous system finally reset.
when he dropped me off, i gave him a massive tip and told him, "that menu is a genius business idea. you must get amazing reviews."
He looked back at me and said, "i didn't make the menu to get better tips, dear.
my daughter has severe social anxiety, and she told me that the hardest part of her day is navigating small talk with strangers when her brain is tired.
she told me it feels like running a marathon.
i made the card so that anyone who gets into my car can feel completely safe dropping the mask for a little while."
i walked into my apartment and just sat on my suitcase.
we live in a world that is constantly screaming at us to perform, to network, to be "on," and to over-communicate.
but sometimes, the deepest form of love and respect you can show another human being is just creating a small, safe pocket of silence for them to rest in.
pay attention to the people who give you permission to be quiet. they are rare.
'I JUST WANNA ENJOY THE LAST YEARS OF MY PLAYING CAREER.' 🇵🇭❤️
Ces Molina, Alyssa Valdez, and Jov Gonzaga relished the opportunity to share the court once more as they marked their return by helping Alas Pilipinas dominate Uzbekistan in the 2026 AVC Women's Cup.

TRULY PHENOMENAL 🔥
Alyssa Valdez turned up the heat in Set 2, unleashing her signature attacks and veteran brilliance to keep Alas Pilipinas rolling against Uzbekistan in the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup.

Alyssa Valdez is still a fucking queen. The disrespect she’s been getting during this stint is insane, as if people forgot kung pano binuhat nyan ang NT dati. Nagpatalo pa yan sa PBB at umuwi from Thailand para mag tryout lol.
AND peak Valdez is still unmatched.

No matter how much Philippine volleyball continues to grow and welcome new stars, Alyssa Valdez will always hold a special place in our hearts. As volleyball fans, we'll always be grateful for her contribution to the sport and the legacy that continues to inspire generations.
THE PHENOMENAL KAPITANA 🫡🇵🇭
Team captain Alyssa Valdez led from the front, delivering a steady all-around performance to help power the Alas Pilipinas Women past Uzbekistan and open their 2026 AVC Women’s Cup campaign on a winning note!

GATCHALIAN GETS HOUSE RECOGNITION
House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III congratulated acting Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian on assuming his new post, expressing confidence in his leadership.
“At a time when our nation looks to its institutions for stability and leadership, a fully functioning Senate is essential to advancing legislation, exercising oversight, and upholding democratic governance,” Dy said in a statement on June 3.
“We wish Acting Senate President Gatchalian every success as he leads the chamber in addressing the challenges and opportunities before our country,” he added.
"PAANO KAMI MAGDE-DEBATE KUNG NASA FACEBOOK SIYA AT KAMI AY NASA PLENARY?" — SEN. LACSON
Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian - SP Pro Tempore
Sen. Erwin Tulfo - Committee Chairman on Blue Ribbon
Sen. Kiko Pangilinan - Committee Chairman on Agriculture
Sen. Risa Hontiveros - Committee Chairman on Health

TODAY, WE CHEER FOR THE MINORITY 🥹🫶
Today, I take my oath as Senate President Pro Tempore.
12 SENATORS ENOUGH TO CREATE QUORUM - SC RULING
The new Senate majority bloc on Wednesday cited the Supreme Court’s ruling on Avelino v. Cuenco as their legal basis for the leadership revamp in the chamber.
The case involves 12 senators who held a quorum after then Senate President Jose Avelino and nine of his allies walked out of the session and replaced him with Sen. Mariano Jesus Cuenco.

The Solid Bloc 11 minority senators were present today for the 5 p.m. resumption of session, ready to work, ready to vote on pending bills and ready to keep the Senate running, but the majority led by SP Cayetano chose not to show up.
They did not even have the courtesy to inform us when they ignored the rules, and could not extend the basic decency of telling the minority that they had no intention of convening.
Let us focus on the work, because the Senate has serious business before it, and if the majority wants to protest, deliver privilege speeches or defend its position, the proper place to do that is on the floor, not by making the chamber stand still.
The Senate should open its doors, call the session to order and return to work, because no Facebook post, no appeal to institutional pride and no political drama can erase the basic duty of senators to show up, follow the law and serve the people.
We call on the Filipino people to watch the Senate closely, because when an institution refuses to work, public vigilance becomes the people’s first line of defense.
