The credibility of India’s democracy cannot be made hostage to the opposition’s political convenience.

124 former IAS, IFS and Allied Service officers have defended the Election Commission’s institutional integrity. These are seasoned administrators who have spent decades safeguarding India’s electoral process.

Free and fair elections demand accurate voter rolls, transparent procedures and strong institutions.

Congress and its allies cannot question the Election Commission every time the verdict goes against them and invoke democracy only when it suits their politics.

Respect for democracy cannot be selective. Neither can respect for its institutions.
