Two decades later, we can assess not just its impact, but its accuracy. Many of the film’s most alarming predictions did not materialize, while many of the policies it inspired have proven costly and ineffective.

The lesson? Panic is a poor guide for public policy. Focusing on innovation, adaptation, and economic development can do far more to help both people and the climate—at a fraction of the cost.

The world will have to deal with 43 million tons of decommissioned wind turbine blades by Net Zero in 2050.

To put that in perspective, it’s the equivalent weight of 215,000 locomotives. These blades are made of high-strength composites designed to survive decades of brutal weather, and they are notoriously difficult to recycle. They were built to last, but they weren't built to disappear.

Every turbine standing today will likely be decommissioned and replaced at least once before 2050. Without a cost-effective way to recycle fibre-reinforced polymers, the majority of these massive blades are destined for eternity - buried forever in turbine graveyards.

China, Europe, and the US will account for the vast majority of this waste, creating a mountainous industrial heartache that many Net Zero models simply haven't priced in.

But 43 million tons of purely composite blade waste every 20 years is a colossal physical reality.

The waste!!

What are we going to do with the nuclear waste?!

Nuclear waste byproducts can be easily stored in steel-lined concrete casks until the fission products decay. They are compatible and they take up little space.

The photo below shows what 45 years’ worth of waste looks like stored at the North Anna Nuclear Generating Station in Louisa County, Virginia.

In fact, all of the waste generated in the U.S. since 1950 would take up no more than an area the size of an American football field stacked to up to a depth of 10 yards.

A new study published in Nature Geoscience found that Prudhoe Dome, a 500-meter-thick ice cap on the northwestern Greenland ice sheet, was completely ice-free around 7,100 years ago with temperatures 3-5°C higher than they are today. Just goes to show that these processes can happen naturally without any anthropogenic influence.

"It takes 15,000 liters of water to produce 1kg of beef!"

Sounds horrifying. Except here's what they don't tell you:

Those 15,000 liters breaks down as:

94% "green water" (rainwater that falls on pasture)
4% "blue water" (actual irrigation)
2% "grey water" (recycled water)

So 94% is just rain. Rain that was falling anyway. Rain the grass absorbs, the cow drinks, then pisses back into the soil within days.

The 4% blue water? That's 600 liters.

Compare to almonds: 12,000 liters of actual irrigation water per kilogram. Twenty times more than beef.

Almonds require intensive irrigation in drought-stricken California, draining aquifers that took 10,000 years to fill and will never refill.

The trick: They count rainfall for beef but not for plant crops. If we counted green water for almonds the same way, those numbers would be astronomical.

Your grass-fed British beef uses rainfall on land that can't grow crops.

Your almond milk drains prehistoric aquifers.

One borrows from the rain cycle. One steals from the future.

The statistics aren't lying. They're just designed to make you draw the wrong conclusion.
