This evening, we had to make a call to 911 after witnessing an intoxicated male wandering along the shoulder of the on-ramp to Highway 417.

Members of the Ottawa Police Service attended within minutes and were able to make contact with the male before he entered the roadway.

We want to recognize the officers for their professionalism, compassion, and quick response in handling the situation.

The heat was on — and so was enforcement. ☀️🚛

OPS, OPP and MTO teamed up for a commercial vehicle safety blitz in Ottawa’s west end, inspecting 67 vehicles and taking 27 unsafe vehicles off the road.

Officers also laid 38 charges, removed one plate and identified two suspended drivers.

Deficiencies included issues with brakes, steering, tires, wheels, load security, driver logs and licences.

Hot weather is no excuse for unsafe vehicles. Road safety doesn’t take a summer break.

Les agents portèrent 38 chefs d’accusation, confisquèrent une plaque et identifièrent deux conducteurs au permis suspendu.

Des faiblesses furent identifiées relativement aux freins, à la direction, aux pneus et au roues, à l’arrimage de la charge, aux permis et à la tenue du journal du chauffeur.

Le temps chaud ne justifie pas les véhicules non sécuritaires. La sécurité routière ne prend pas de congé estival.
