I went looking for a simple answer:

How many doctors registered with the Bihar Medical Council are actually practicing in Bihar?

Surprisingly, I couldn't find any official data.

Neither the NMC nor the Bihar Government publishes a dataset showing how many Bihar-registered doctors are serving in Bihar versus practicing in other states.

This data is crucial. It would help policymakers understand doctor migration, identify workforce gaps, and make better recruitment and healthcare planning decisions.

Evidence-based policy starts with evidence.

Everyone is talking about power consumption of AI.
Very few are talking about water.

India's data centers may require 558 billion liters of water annually by 2030 for cooling.

Perhaps it's time to build the next generation of data centers near water-rich regions instead of water-stressed cities.

AI needs chips.
Data centers need power.
But both need water.

The next data center hub may not be Mumbai, Chennai, or Hyderabad.

The Ganga belt, including Bihar, deserves a serious look.

AI follows power. Smart investments follow water.

Everyone is chasing land, power and incentives.

Soon they'll be chasing water.

As data centres, pharma, food processing and advanced manufacturing expand, water-rich regions will gain a decisive edge.

The Ganga basin, especially Bihar, is sitting on a strategic asset that India has barely begun to value.

The government should recognize this advantage now by making water availability a key factor in industrial policy, investment promotion, and site selection.

In the coming decades, water security may matter as much as power security.

Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister has transferred ₹5,000 each to 1.31 crore women ahead of elections.
This reminds me of the Bihar elections, when similar cash transfers were announced and many people mocked Biharis, saying they would “sell their vote” for ₹10,000.

Now the question is — why isn’t the same narrative being pushed today?
If financial assistance before elections is called “vote buying” in one state, shouldn’t the same standard apply everywhere? Or do we judge states differently based on perception?
Welfare schemes exist in both developed and developing states. But labeling voters as “for sale” says more about our bias than about the voters themselves.
Is the issue really about the money — or about how selectively we criticize?

A few days ago, I casually searched about Darbhanga Maharaj—and uncovered a story India rarely tells.
What began in Mithila never remained confined to Bihar.
The vision of Maharaja Kameshwar Singh quietly travelled across the country, shaping institutions, culture, donated planes to Government and cities.

From Darbhanga’s town planning and post-earthquake rebuilding, to preserving Mithila’s cultural and social harmony—his contribution went far beyond kingship.

In Kolkata, Darbhanga Hall at Calcutta University reflects his deep faith in education.

In Delhi, Darbhanga Lane and donated properties show public service over privilege.

In Mumbai, Darbhanga Mansion marked his presence in India’s economic capital.

In Shimla, Tara Hall, once his summer residence, was later dedicated to education.

Even today, the Maharani’s shraddh bhoj, uniting thousands across communities, carries forward that legacy of generosity and social cohesion. But one aspect is still not emphasised enough—Indian art and architecture.
Darbhanga Ghat at Kashi stands as a magnificent example of Indian fort-style architecture—strong, graceful, and timeless. It is living proof that Maithil patronage shaped India’s cultural landscape in stone, space, and spirit.
Bihar didn’t just contribute leaders.
It contributed institutions, aesthetics, and nation-building values.
And yes—Maithil High Culture is not a hoax 😊
It’s history we simply forgot to tell—until now.

यह देखना सकारात्मक है कि बिहार सरकार अब @IndianExpress जैसे राष्ट्रीय स्तर के अख़बारों में अपनी नई इंडस्ट्रियल पॉलिसी का व्यापक प्रचार कर रही है। इससे कम से कम यह संकेत मिल���ा है कि राज्य खुद को राष्ट्रीय निवेश परिदृश्य में गंभीरता से स्थापित करना चाहता है और देश की बड़ी कंपनियों व निवेशकों को संदेश देना चाहता है कि बिहार बदलाव के लिए तैयार है।

पॉलिसी बनाना आसान है, विज्ञापन देना उससे भी आसान, लेकिन उसे व्यवहार में उतारना और परिणाम लाना ही असल परीक्षा है। ��गर बिहार इस बार ईमानदारी से क्रियान्वयन पर ध्यान दे, समयबद्ध तरीके से प्रोजेक्ट्स को आगे बढ़ाए, नई कंपनियों के लिए आसान प्रक्रियाएँ बनाए और पारदर्शिता के साथ काम करे—तो यह पॉलिसी राज्य की दिशा ही नहीं, बल्कि उसकी भविष्य की तस्वीर भी बदल सकती है।

हम सबकी उम्मीद एक ही है — बिहार सिर्फ़ ‘policy on paper’ में नहीं, बल्कि ‘progress on ground’ में दिखे। युवाओं को नए अवसर मिलें, उद्योग आएँ और राज्य वास्तव में विकास के ���ए चरण पर पहुँचे।”
