Mona, a member of the Federation of the Blind, gave amazing testimony yesterday about @Tesla’s Cybercab after sitting in it this week:

"To have something like the Cybercab would be very beneficial to us as the blind community; It’s got Braille in there. Nobody else has Braille. This would be so beneficial. The app is wonderful. There’s space to put the wheelchair. They can just push themselves right in. A lot of times, the Uber and Lyft if they see you with a dog or cane, they drive right past you. With Cybercab, it doesn't know that you're blind. It doesn't know that you're in a wheelchair. It just knows that you need a ride, so I completely love the car. Just sitting in it, how comfortable it is, just knowing something is accessible - it’s the most amazing thing out there."

@garygastelu Another straight Q of losses. If they build it, will the market come? Or will they be too busy buying Model Ys,R2s,iX3s,etc? Gravity has good market fit & per admission is sales leader this Q & yet demand is flat. Maybe product isn’t as compelling as their leadership thinks it is

My senior design project was designing automation tooling to crimp chip detector assemblies for a big player in the space, neat little widgets and until we came along the assembly process was incredibly bespoke.

Fun fact: most helicopters & turboprop aircraft have “Chip Detectors”. They are elegantly simple…

Magnets are installed along the oil line or gearbox. As little pieces of the engine break off, oil carries them around. As they pass by the magnets, the magnets collect them. If they collect enough, it creates a circuit, which turns on a light in the cockpit.

The light is basically a “your gearbox / engine has begun disassembling itself in earnest & landing immediately would be wise” indicator.

(I don’t know if that’s what happened here, could be other causes, but I always think of a chip light when I see this)

For jets & piston aircraft, they’ll take samples of the oil periodically as part of maintenance & look for metal bits. Metal bits are not a good sign.

Cybercab at the National Federation of the Blind's Annual Convention in Austin for a hands-on experience of its accessibility features for blind or visually impaired customers

For example:
– Braille lettering on physical controls
– Space for service animals & assistive devices
– Wheelchair-height seating for easier transfers

Survived our 25:02 24hr of Lemons race. Personally logged 5hrs of seat time in 100min stints in day/dusk/dark/dawn. It was hot and tiring but also felt so awesome to be able to run for that long. MDW Motorsports are alive and well.
