@progunz_1 @KevinHartman602 @DJSnM Radiation is a problem if you aren’t careful and ensure any combination of enough distance, shielding or limited exposure. They went through the edge (it’s not a sphere) and in a soda can but also quickly enough that the “deadly” effects couldn’t build up to be even noticeable.

@AlexBolewski @Erdayastronaut Hyperbolic engines despite their more common use in China are a horrible idea for landing because of how toxic they are to your clean up and recovery crews. As for flaps they only work with lots of forward motion so unless you want to roll on a very long runway that’s out.

Plus starship has failed enough that many still think it won’t work (I disagree) but has also had great near successes but either way it hasn’t proven either side wrong, yet.

@kanifeli @Erdayastronaut This is the first stage booster which never leaves earth since it’s empty near the end of the atmosphere and is discarded to save having to propel its extra mass to the final destination. We are trying to land these to reuse to send another upper stage later.

@EdwardGiugliano @DJSnM Values of stock are relative. He was a hero in many ways one of which was that he did the hard work of going to the moon without the reward of making it there. The mission and the safety of his people were paramount. His own glory less so.

Plus vaccine protection is a community benefit. Frequently to travel people need to have vaccines to protect their destination countries. Having a *?* next to their immunization record wouldn’t be cool.
