There’s been a lot of talk of Moltbook, the social network platform that enables AI Agents to talk to each other and the jungle drum echoes the fear that AI Agents are now conspiring against us.
In this context, It’s essential to understand that AI does nothing on its own.
It has no desires, no wishes, no plans, except for the ones infused into it by the conjoint efforts of protocol, training system, prompt etc.

AI is not a human-like intelligence, it’s a predictive engine that follows orders. If you tell it to pretend like it’s people in a social interaction setting, it will try to follow orders.
The danger is therefore not, what evil plots AI might be hatching, but what people choose to do with AI Agents. Including letting them loose with a bad set of instructions.

As I work on the first explainer video for Techiewisp, I am reminded of a post I read on LinkedIn the other day, stating that Reddit and YouTube content are weighed significantly higher by LLMs than traditional web based brand content and surpasses other social media by a significant margin. If true, this would shift the sands of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy. But is it true and if so, why is this the case?
Here is what I have found.
What is shifting the LLM weighing of sources and thereby the foundation for GEO are predominantly “The Firehose Effect”.
The firehouse effect is logistical in nature and it does not apply universally across all LLMs as Gemini, ChatGPT, Grok and Claude is working under different logistical circumstances.
In early 2024, Google struck a $60M/year deal to access Reddit’s real-time Data API. This means Gemini (and Google Search AI Overviews) has near-instant access to Reddit threads. OpenAI also announced a partnership to bring Reddit content to ChatGPT. As a Google property, YouTube’s transcript data is a native, massive part of the training corpus for Gemini.Grok, however, is owned by Elon Musk and as such has native access to X as its main training ground, while Claude has no direct access to any training corpus.
This means that unlike the “garden-hose” access LLMs has to crawl the internet, the data from Reddit and YouTube is being blasted at Gemini and ChatGPT at high pressure and high volume. This makes it impossible for the model to ignore, causing that content to weigh heavier in the final output than a static website that sits quietly waiting to be discovered. The same firehose effect influences Grok, but with X content rather than Reddit and YouTube. Claude is the outlier in this context, since it must rely solely on the garden-hose access to the internet.
In conclusion it is true, that Reddit and YouTube is weighed much higher by Gemini and ChatGPT, while Grok continues to make X content relevant from a GEO perspective. The internet and our combined SEO efforts, as the garden-hose data alternative, remains accessible for all LLMs, which keeps it relevant, but no longer by virtue of digital data monopoly. GEO is here to stay and might very well change in future in ways yet unforeseen. In the meantime, knowing what moves the needle right now and why, is always the best foundation for good digital marketing.
