I really need to get to Nick Land because capitalism as an alien intelligence with a telos that is indifferent to human capital has me under a spell (and is existentially terrifying).
@sailaunderscore AI is really great at solving problems with legible success modes. Writing copy is just too fuzzy and success is subject to change on so many variables.
@sailaunderscore@punished_daniel They failed to mature. There is a high brow version of "cheat on everything" but they failed the art of polarization. Also product is still king in a Thielian sense and they don't have pmf.
@sailaunderscore Trades are technically arbitrage right now but only because every child in America has been siphoned into the college pipeline. As more people enter, the arbitrage disappears and then it just becomes a low status low pay job.
The problem with ‘the trades’ isn’t really the pay. You can take down a great salary and you don’t have college debt; you have a straight-forward path to owning your own business if you’re driven.
The problem with ‘the trades’ is almost purely status problem.
One of the most clearly obvious truthnukes that normies are completely oblivious to.
Bio-weapons are the highest % existential risk to humanity and it's not even close. The lack of a reckoning post-Covid lab-leak is far worse than any "AI swarm".
@RealV1Down@PubWanghaf Gen Z is just too irony pilled and war narratives always have a falsity to them where they are straightforwardly propaganda.
There would need to be a maximally truth seeking director who is interested in making honest art and I just don't see that happening.
Roy Lee is special, but he also isn't.
1) Basically, he's a Twitch streamer personality, who somehow landed in the SF tech sphere.
Normally, tech bros aren't Twitch-y, and Twitch bros aren't attracted by SF autism lyfe.
So, Roy Lee is kinda an invasive species in an environment that wasn't adapted to him.
2) His entire Asian office skit show is being carried by a comedy writer and actor, who, by himself, is much bigger than Cluely.
Remy Zee is the engine that allows Roy to act like the Kanye of tech.
(But to be fair- it was Roy's decision to hire Remy Zee with his VC money)
Jacob Collier is a fine musician, but a terrible composer. If I challenged him to make a coherent and sonically pleasing album with just a couple of guitars, bass guitar, drums, and vocals that would score a 3.5+ on RYM he would certainly struggle.
@oecolamp The only characteristics that will be salient for the rest of human history are intelligence and looks. Character matters but everyone intuitively understands the paradigm.
