20 Days In Mariupol
Though overshadowed by news of new wars, successive earthquakes, and other disasters, the war in Ukraine continues to this day. This documentary captures the desperation over a 20-day period, from the immediate aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine to the evacuation from Mariupol. Cut off from the outside world with no phones or internet, it portrays the reality of the "endless war" unfolding within. The film challenges the true meaning of journalism and the nature of war to those of us who take no notice of the avalanche of fake news on social media. “Wars don’t start with explosions; they start with silence.” These words, spoken quietly by the reporter at the beginning of the film, I cannot forget.
Survivors' footage after Russians hit a hospital and hotel with ballistic missile strikes.
Russians are now free to murder everyone in Ukraine, unencumbered by air defense.
One of the defenders of Mariupol and a prisoner of war during the trial in russia. I have seen similar images from Auschwitz of how Nazis treated their prisoners. This is precisely why Ukraine has to win in order to stop the russian genocide!
Until the war comes to your home, it is very easy to talk about it from afar. It is very easy to overlook the thousands of deaths and destruction. It is very easy to talk about forgiveness, to be a moralist and a peacemaker, when Russian terrorists did not kill your loved ones, destroy your home and raze your city to the ground. When they didn't rape your wife or daughter or kill your children. When they weren't trying to take your freedom away. What they did to millions of Ukrainians. When your country is not subject to barbaric invasion, terror, genocide, it is very easy to sit in a warm chair and teach others how to live and what to do.
Every Ukrainian lost a relative or friend in this war. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians were killed by Russian fascists. Thousands of Russian missiles were fired at peaceful cities. Millions of shells. Violence, robbery, genocide. This is in case someone wants to teach Ukrainians how to fight and what to do!
So it's better to just shut your mouth!
@jj284b@SpaghettiKozak They do not care about their own people, even relatives.
They rejoiced and rejoice in death of others.
They just don’t care until it affects them personally.
I’m sure this is going to be ignored by much of the world’s media but tonight Ukraine faced yet another massive missile/drone attack. 82 aerial targets were launched in total. Lviv oblast was targeted the most, but other parts of the country dealt with a rough night as well.
A SMALL MESSAGE TO UKRAINIAN SUPPORTERS WORLDWIDE >>
The support that you give us, in the fact that you stand with us in spirit, DOES make a difference.
Never doubt that.
It makes a BIG difference to soldiers on the front that people care for them.
I remember that after a lot of supportive messages from #NAFO at Christmas, members of the 25th said that, 'They thought the world had forgotten them, and were very happy to know that people around the world still stood with them.'
---
People like yourself - EACH one of you who stands with Ukraine - make an IMMENSE difference.
Together, we make a stand for HUMANITY... and make sure that evil does not triumph.
---
Winning this war is CRUCIAL.
World science is moving forward. We will eventually defeat disease, and slowly advance in education, and against poverty and ignorance.
Together, we can build a better world - even start humanity on the path to a golden age where disease, hunger, poverty and ignorance are DEFEATED.
---
But dictatorships CANNOT be allowed to continue into that future - THAT's why these dictatorships are so united, are making such a stand against us - it's their LAST stand.
If they fall now, they fall FOREVER.
Making sure that they do is OUR job - all of us, every free man and woman in the world.
Russia is quietly testing a new weapon, and it’s not ballistic missiles.
In 2023, the EU recorded a record 380,000 illegal border crossings and there is evidence Moscow has a lot to do with it.
