In 2019, she expanded into beauty .

By 2022 the business was varying nearly £54m in debt while still being in business and making losses.

In some regions people would have told her “village people” wants to ruin her but she kept figuring things and stood with her conviction .

Her husband David had to step in at some point to help cover for the losses .

18years after, The company became profitable!

And honestly, the most fascinating part of this story isn’t that it took 18 years,

It’s that the business nearly drowned in losses, changed its strategy, found a much better product mix, controlled costs, and finally crossed into profitability.

It's an unspoken code of people who are "higher up" - they're almost all givers.

Spot the person always angling.

For the rest of the year ,I want you to not have “Hope” as a strategy .

Yes Hope is a tool of performance but it does not perform.

So to your hope, add commitment.

To your hope, add conscious and practical goal settings (not new month resolutions) or (before year end resolutions)

To your hope add research and development.

Wake up every day, every week with a target in view and work towards it.

“For hope deferred make the heart sick”

Hope as a quantity is not enough.

If you don’t add other variables to your “Hope” for the rest of the year, even hope will architect your own weariness.

If you are still young, take a lot of risk fail early enough, then fail forward.

The earlier you start failing, the
better.

The 3 major benefits of debt for wealthy investors

1. 🚀 Leverage : you control more assets with less of your own money

Let’s say you have ₦100 million.

You could buy a ₦100 million property outright.

Or you might use the ₦100 million as equity to control ₦400 million worth of properties, borrowing the remaining ₦300 million.

Now your potential returns are based on a much larger asset base.

That’s why wealthy investors love leverage.

But here’s the catch: leverage magnifies losses too.

If that ₦400 million portfolio falls 20%, you’ve lost ₦80 million in value an enormous hit relative to your original ₦100 million.

So leverage is a weapon, not free money.

2. 🏦 It allows you to keep your own cash

This is something many people don’t understand.

Suppose you own a property worth ₦500 million.

You need ₦100 million for another investment.

You could sell the property.

But then you lose ownership of the asset.

A wealthy investor might instead borrow against the property.

They get liquidity without selling the asset.

This is one of the strategies Kiyosaki talks about: borrowing against appreciating assets rather than selling them.

So the investor can potentially have:

Asset → still owned

Cash → received

Debt → created

That is very different from selling.

3. 📈 Inflation can work in favor of certain borrowers

This one is particularly interesting.

Imagine you borrow ₦100 million at a fixed interest rate.

Over many years, inflation reduces the purchasing power of money.

Meanwhile, if the asset you purchased rises in value and its income rises with inflation, your debt remains denominated in the original currency amount.

For example:

You borrowed:

₦100 million

Years later, you still owe roughly that principal amount (before considering repayments), but the ₦100 million may have much less purchasing power.

Meanwhile, your property might have gone from:

₦150m → ₦300m → ₦500m

and rents may have increased.

This is one reason Kiyosaki argues that inflation can benefit borrowers who use fixed debt to acquire productive assets.
