Saba Saba 2026 may have passed, but our quest for justice, accountability, democracy, and the rule of law remains as urgent as ever.

We stand in solidarity with the families whose loved ones remain missing, those who were unlawfully arrested, those nursing injuries, and the families mourning lives lost. Their pain does not end when the demonstrations end.

No amount of intimidation, threats, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, or violence will replace democracy. No campaign of fear will silence citizens demanding justice and accountability. We will continue documenting human rights violations, supporting affected families, and demanding that those responsible be held accountable.

The spirit of Saba Saba lives on in every Kenyan who believes in human dignity, constitutional freedoms, and a just society. We remain committed to defending civic space and ensuring that every victim receives justice.

Saba Saba may be over, but the struggle continues.

Saba Saba was not only a struggle for political freedoms but also a call for a more just, equitable, and inclusive Kenya where every citizen could access opportunities, public services, and economic prosperity without discrimination or marginalization.

The Constitution guarantees equality, non-discrimination, and equitable development. Devolution has improved access to services in many parts of the country. However, significant inequalities remain in income, employment opportunities, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and access to basic services across regions and communities.

According to the World Bank and KNBS, poverty and inequality continue to affect millions of Kenyans, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. Socio-economic disparities remain evident in employment, education outcomes, healthcare access, and household incomes despite notable progress in reducing extreme poverty over the past two decades.

How can Kenya ensure that the democratic gains achieved since Saba Saba translate into equal opportunities, dignity, and shared prosperity for all citizens?

It will be achieved when a child in a public school in Magumu- Nyandarua or Milalani- Kwale receives the exact same quality of education as a child in a high-end private school in Nrb or Msa. #TelekezaKatibaKe
