Saba Saba 2026 may have passed, but our quest for justice, accountability, democracy, and the rule of law remains as urgent as ever.
We stand in solidarity with the families whose loved ones remain missing, those who were unlawfully arrested, those nursing injuries, and the families mourning lives lost. Their pain does not end when the demonstrations end.
No amount of intimidation, threats, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, or violence will replace democracy. No campaign of fear will silence citizens demanding justice and accountability. We will continue documenting human rights violations, supporting affected families, and demanding that those responsible be held accountable.
The spirit of Saba Saba lives on in every Kenyan who believes in human dignity, constitutional freedoms, and a just society. We remain committed to defending civic space and ensuring that every victim receives justice.
Saba Saba may be over, but the struggle continues.

@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Strengthening and enforcing existing legal frameworks is crucial. The Constitution guarantees equality and non-discrimination, but effective implementation and robust enforcement mechanisms are needed to address the persistent inequalities.

@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Democracy cannot survive if supreme laws are treated as optional. Realizing the full promise of Saba Saba is a day-to- day commitment which means strictly enforcing Chapter 6 of the COK on intergrity and that no leader in Kenya is above judicial oversight.

@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Tools for an equitable Kenya are already in our hands. Katiba ya Kenya is a complete shield, but it only protects the citizen when the state obeys it.#TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Since civic education has shifted to digital spaces, the government should ensure safety in digital spaces such as X Spaces, for citizens to engage without fear of retaliation for criticing the actions of the state.
#TelekezaKatibaKe
The government can protect public participation from becoming a rubber stamping activity and ensure citizens exercise the freedom to critic without fear of punitive actions. This way, the government remans accountable. #TelekezaKatibaKe
Saba Saba was not only a struggle for political freedoms but also a call for a more just, equitable, and inclusive Kenya where every citizen could access opportunities, public services, and economic prosperity without discrimination or marginalization.
The Constitution guarantees equality, non-discrimination, and equitable development. Devolution has improved access to services in many parts of the country. However, significant inequalities remain in income, employment opportunities, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and access to basic services across regions and communities.
According to the World Bank and KNBS, poverty and inequality continue to affect millions of Kenyans, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. Socio-economic disparities remain evident in employment, education outcomes, healthcare access, and household incomes despite notable progress in reducing extreme poverty over the past two decades.
How can Kenya ensure that the democratic gains achieved since Saba Saba translate into equal opportunities, dignity, and shared prosperity for all citizens?

@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Changing the curriculum alone will not achieve the Saba Saba vision. It will be achieved when a child in a public school in Magumu- Nyandarua or Milalani- Kwale receives the exact same quality of education as a child in a high-end private school in Nrb or Msa. #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Public education cannot be isolated from the broader governance crises of public finance and corruption ; this is part of the reason Kenya continues to struggle with educational equity.#TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya The education system is still struggling. The pioneers of Saba Saba marched for a country where a childโs future would be determined by their potential, not their parents' bank accounts, yet in 2026, the inequity persists. #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya@TISAKenya Article 37 of the COK gives every citizen the right to peacefully assemble and picket. The govt should ban the deployment of live ammunition, plain-clothed undercover units and unmarked vehicles during public assemblies to protect citizens. #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya@TISAKenya Protecting & expanding the Digital Civic Space and appreciating that the modern civic engagement approach has shifted to the online spaces on X Spaces, TikTok, IG etc... #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya@TISAKenya Inadequacy in Documentation, Investigation and Prosecution has been highlighted as a gap in protection of human rights. The state can strengthen and adequately fund independent oversight bodies like @IPOA_KE and the @ODPP_KE without political interference. #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya@TISAKenya Accountability can thrive when legal remedy and redress measures are fullyimplemented. The state can strengthen implementation of existing laws on reparations and access to justice. #TelekezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Until our collective taxes build functioning hospitals and schools upto the sub-county level, instead of financing state excess, we cannot achieve economic justice!
#TekelezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Public financial management as outlined in the 2010 COK must place the lives of citizens at the core of national planning to economic justice.
#TekelezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya The 1990 Saba Saba movement demanded appropriate management of public resources for citizen welfare. This is not the reality of the current manner in which resources are managed in Kenya. #TekelezaKatibaKe
@Maskani254@kawive@nisisikenya Current data from oversight institutions shows mismatch between how public funds are collected and spent versus the economic realities faced by Kenyan households.
