The disparity between their hardware is so huge, that no matter how you tilt the scales, you can't change the outcome. Smasher is limited by the technology of his time.

On my second play through, I slashed him into pieces with monowire.
The ceramite armour is also impenetrable by anything lesser than AP tank shells.
The average space marine is used to fighting equals.

@HubPointless The average space marine has gone through decades of fighting and adapting to dozens of kinds of Xenos.
They are trained to not waste movements and be inhumanly efficient with everything they do.
They can be hacked, but not by anything in CP2077. It took a golden age AI to do it.
