@NelsonHavi I have seen this happen to persons who are just ordinary business people. KRA comes up with a large claim, usually several millions, mainly based on bank deposits, but then after push and pull, the client ends up paying less than 1M.

Personally, I think we should be okay with having a great conversation with a stranger and leaving it at that. Exchanging contacts isn’t always necessary. One of the beautiful things in life is being able to remember a good conversation with a random person and move on.

The debate around legal education and the number of law students and admitted Advocates is a legitimate one. If we want to check numbers, it is foolhardy to try to do the same after admitting students to the University let alone Kenya School of Law. Rather, we should limit numbers to the University.The problem of numbers, I submit is not the elephant in the room today.

The bigger conundrum that should arouse international debate and uproar is the sharing of the national cake.

2% of the 25000 advocates (500 advocates) control 98% of practice money.

Same advocates represent Central Bank, Kenya Airports Authority, Kengen, Kenya Pipeline, Kenya Wildlife, KTDA, Counties, SHA and are on the Attorney General's panel of private advocates.

98% of Advocates (24500) are fighting and stabbing each other for very small briefs that account for 2% of practice money including pro bono briefs in Court. This is a debate we must have!

What are the unique qualities and competencies of the 2%?Is there any independence of the bar without a levelled and fair practice market?
