Following our consultations on the @_AfricanUnion Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (AU-CEVAWG), a consolidated civil society report is now ready. 🔖
The report captures findings and recommendations from a two-stage engagement process: a national virtual consultation convened in Uganda by @WomenProbono, @amwaafrika, @Uganetlaw, @CEDOVIPuganda, and FIDA-Uganda; and a regional breakout session held under @GimacNetwork.
Building on the voices and perspectives shared during these engagements, the report contributes to ongoing regional advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening protections, accountability, and coordinated action to end violence against women and girls across Africa.

Because effective conflict resolution starts within communities, our legal associate, @ALakwech, under the Partnerships on Accountability, Civic Engagement, and Rights Project supported by 🇩🇰🇸🇪 🇳🇱🇮🇪, utilised a locus mediation to peacefully resolve a land dispute involving a vulnerable landowner facing eviction threats.
Conducted directly on the disputed land alongside local leaders and community members, the mediation helped clarify boundaries, strengthen awareness on land rights, and secure a peaceful settlement, including an alternative access arrangement for the affected road section. The intervention reflects the importance of community-based and non-adversarial justice mechanisms in protecting vulnerable populations.

A few weeks ago, I was honored to serve as a consultant training Guild Leaders from higher institutions of learning on the development of sexual harassment policies in Uganda’s universities and colleges.
This was organized by @MemprowGirls and @awdf01 .
Navigating the professional space is often made easier with the guidance of mentorship something many of us can relate to through our own journeys.
This week, I had the privilege of witnessing the graduation of the mentorship cohort mentees, and it was truly inspiring.

Our legal officer @ALakwech from the Arua office, under the Partnerships on Accountability, Civic Engagement and Rights Project supported by 🇩🇰🇸🇪🇳🇱🇮🇪, joined @Sihanet for the inception and graduation ceremony of the “𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒓𝒔: 𝑩𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑭𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝑶𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑾𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝑵𝒊𝒍𝒆” initiative.
The project is strengthening women’s economic empowerment by supporting women with practical livelihood skills, access to income-generating opportunities, and collective organising through women-led groups, enabling them to increase household income, build financial resilience, and actively participate in community decision-making.
This builds on @Sihanet’s support to our work with women’s groups in Gulu, where women have been supported to form savings groups, access small grants, and grow small businesses, improving their economic independence and stability.
Through this continued partnership, we are advancing economic justice by ensuring women have the resources, voice, and power to shape their futures and communities.
