If you want to list the negatives with ancient PI customs, be consistent and list the barbaric practices of Ancient Greece.

Moana is a fictitious character. Maui, Te Fiti/Te Ka ARE based on PI legends. Pacific Islanders were also master navigators. Is that inaccurate too?

Of course it’s sanitized, but not more than Hercules, Hunchback, or Pocahontas. Don’t act like the enlightened Greeks didn’t have extremely barbaric aspects of their culture.

@TheusCattius @BlackMajikMan90 What a lazy take. Moana was the most streamed Disney+ movie in 2023 and 2024 and is the most streamed movie ever on Disney+. Moana 2 grossed a billion worldwide. Seems like more than 1% of westerners were interested. This movie was at least 10 years too soon. That was the issue.
