The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2023 #NobelPrize in Chemistry to Moungi G. Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.”
Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman – awarded the 2023 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine – discovered that base-modified mRNA can be used to block activation of inflammatory reactions and increase protein production when mRNA is delivered to cells.
I am happy to announce that I have successfully defended my PhD today!!! Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey! #PhDone#AcademicChatter
Congratulations, Dr. Mlotkowski! #35 of the Chow lab PhDs!! Fun fact: Alan was the first PhD from the lab to be born AFTER I started my faculty position. @Alan_Mlotkowski@waynestatechem
Our lab (@group_boon) published a new review on the role of nitric oxide sensing proteins (NosPs) in biofilm regulation, quorum sensing, and virulence!
Give it a read! Just no mean comments allowed or I’ll cry!
The Final Public Oral Defense for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Alan Jacek Mlotkowski will be held on Monday, August 28th, 10:00 am, Chemistry, Wayne State University. Good Luck, @Alan_Mlotkowski! #wsuchemistry#phddefense
@chrstysc Fortunately, my desktop is in tiptop shape and having everything backed up to the cloud makes this more of an annoyance than heart-attack inducing!
First paper of my student Vishaka! She did the computational work explaining sulfate binding and kinetics to a new fluorescent protein sensor. Check it out if you want to detect some sulfate!
A friend and recent PhD graduate from WSU Chemistry was struck in a hit-and-run incident last Friday night.
A friend to all and a great scientist, he is much loved by everyone.
