@ThomasDrance The should be acquiring as many picks as they can, and not look to activately improve. But focusing on the standings or the lottery is pointless. If your entire strategy is landing Dupont, well, that's not a sound strategy.
@irfgaffar Somebody has to get to @fr_aquilini and let him know what a disaster Dorion would be. It simply can't happen. The hiring would be an abject failure from the moment it's announced. The market won't give him a chance to succeed, it would be doomed from the start.
@SatiarShah Rutherford seemingly has one foot out the door, and the last GM he hired failed to do the job. Why should JR be the one leading the search a new GM? What happens if a new president is hired, are we doing this all over again in a year?
@ThomasDrance@nytimes Gillis is well suited to a POHO role (he ran a great organization here) but I think you want somebody else handling player acquisition and scouting. He was also, at times, too clever by half. (Luongo captaincy, as an example).
@taj1944 The Bure divorce might have been uglier, but Bure had a lot more team success to look back on. As great as he was, I'm not so sure Quinn will be remembered that fondly here.
@sekeresandprice That's one of the dangers of rebuilding/tanking. It's probably the only chance you have to get better, but the danger of creating low standards and a losing culture can be a big problem. You have to get lucky enough to find players that can transcend that.
@taj1944 There's a chance they don't trade anybody. Myers could refuse to waive. Interest in Kane and Kampf is probably lukewarm at best. Blueger should net a midround pick, but if the Canucks don't the value they want, they could re-sign him. Preparing to be underwhelmed.
@DhaliwalSports I know this is a unique situation, but why is everything with Canucks so bloody protracted and difficult? I don't blame Myers, but how long are the Wings going to wait? If there are other offers, why haven't they materialized already? Is this just going to drag until Friday?
@David_M_Giles@sekeresandprice It's frustrating to watch, but in a vacuum, he's a decent 2nd line centre, and I get the feeling he doesn't have that much influence in the room. He's a bit of a lone wolf and pretty quiet. I don't get the sense that he's a disruptive presence.
