@AlanKohler OK, how. China has enough oil reserves to not import at all for a year.
US has enough for 90 days.
China has been buying massive amounts of Iranian & Russian oil.
While the CNY isn't as valuable as the USD it's still valuable to Iran & Russia.
@AlanKohler@YouTube Hi Allan, you stated here "why China slashed it's oil imports is a mystery to analysts" so l thought this explainer from Max Fisher might be helpful as to why China slashed it's imports.
Best wishes.

This one might be most interesting for my Aussie followers: An interview with @alankohler.bsky.social on ABC, with a bit about me, a bit about the U.S., and a bit about Australia. Also, economics. Always economics. https://t.co/0YvFQXNeoe

It seemed very plausible and I fell for it - luckily my son said that’s a scam. Then found on 𝕏 Alan Kohlers own post
I was able to stop the transfer of $300 on debit card and bank issued new card new number. So they didn’t get any money
When reported to Facebook that it was a scam and Alan Kohler called it out on 𝕏 Twitter

Vanity retweet coming up, but hey it's Alan so what am I gonna do...
He noted that sometimes it takes a grouch to see the potential for positive change and not merely is that a lovely thing to say about what I wrote but it's an observation of much wider insight and utility.
I wrote an optimistic book about mid-21st century Australia.
Call it grumpy, sceptical optimism, maybe, but optimistic nonetheless.
Out next month.

Alan Kohler's latest article highlights an important shift in the housing debate. We now largely agree that housing demand is more complicated than population growth divided by household size.
The remaining question is how much demand is being suppressed by the shortage itself. When housing becomes scarce, people crowd together, delay moving out, postpone household formation and remain in housing they would otherwise leave.
The result is that observed household growth understates underlying housing demand.
This is why housing shortages cannot be measured by population growth alone. Ultimately, the strongest evidence of a shortage is not a theoretical calculation.
It is the market itself. Vacancy rates remain critically low. Rents continue to rise. Prices continue to rise.
NHSAC forecasts continued undersupply.
Australia is still not building enough homes to meet demand each year, let alone reduce the shortage that already exists.
The debate should now focus less on population arithmetic and more on how we increase housing supply. @LouiChristopher
Alan Kohler on SpaceX’s historic valuation.
@AlanKohler has spent more than 50 years at the centre of Australian financial journalism, and few people alive have watched this country's booms, busts, and policy shifts with more clarity.
In this conversation, Alan and I trace the arc of Australian capitalism from the Poseidon nickel boom of 1969 through to the rise of Elon Musk and the AI era.
Alan draws striking parallels between the charismatic deal-makers of the 1980s, Bond, Elliott, Skase, and the story-sellers of today, and explains why irrational exuberance always takes longer to unravel than anyone expects.
He also gives a frank assessment of what Australian housing policy has got wrong, why superannuation remains the country's greatest economic achievement, and what capital gains tax reform should actually look like.
