@tropicostation Water in the LA River channels can move 30-40 miles an hour. In other words, during a storm it would be faster to get from DTLA to Long Beach on a kayak than taking the freeway.
@xopherx @JoshLipnik My Elem School in Portage MI had a rocket like this - only there was also a ladder to get to the top level. Milham Park in Kalamazoo also had a rocket. Both blasted off to space a long time ago...

I’ve long argued that urban policy-makers need to understand good urban design better. But to be clear, I also believe that urban designers need to understand good urban policy-making better.
@hblackson@jake_gotta I'm not sure it's reflective of our social/political pluralism... but I think the 5+2 is the basic background building of a new kind of urbanism. I'd prefer less articulation on these things, but generally I'd be inclined to defined them.
