America knows who it can trust in Iraq, Syria, and, now, Iran.

The Kurds have earned America’s full and enduring respect. Congress must codify that respect with recognition and special consideration for military protection, economic development, and visa programs.

If activating the Kurdish militias against the Iranian regime is the decision, the U.S. must not waiver under pressure from regional capitals nor abandon Kurdish partners. “Temporary and transactional” will not suffice, this time.

U.S. Forces, Allies Conduct Joint Strikes in Yemen

As part of ongoing international efforts to respond to increased Houthi destabilizing and illegal activities in the region, on Jan. 22 at approximately 11:59 p.m. (Sanaa / Yemen time), U.S. Central Command forces alongside UK Armed Forces, and with the support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, conducted strikes on 8 Houthi targets in Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas of Yemen.

These strikes from this multilateral coalition targeted areas in Houthi-controlled Yemen used to attack international merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region. The targets included missile systems and launchers, air defense systems, radars, and deeply buried weapons storage facilities.

These strikes are intended to degrade Houthi capability to continue their reckless and unlawful attacks on U.S. and U.K. ships as well as international commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. These strikes are separate and distinct from the multinational freedom of navigation actions performed under Operation Prosperity Guardian.

I am deeply moved by the touching story of young Lania Fakher, the 8-year-old jockey from the Kurdistan region in Iraq. Her passion for horses and her unwavering dedication to her dear friend “Jsno” have captured the hearts of millions around the world.

In a truly inspiring gesture, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has shown his immense kindness by granting and gifting a group of horses to Lania after the loss of her beloved mare. But that’s not all! He also recognized her potential and has directed support to establish a training center for her.
