Lecturers are professional educators, trained and qualified in the theoretical aspects of teaching practice. All students in FE deserve to be taught by lecturers who themselves have studied the many aspects of practice that make teaching a profession.

The continuation and potential further escalation of this dispute can be avoided - the agreement made on 12th March that our employers did not ratify ensured the unique aspects of a lecturers role. Their current proposal, rejected prior to 12th March, does not.

National negotiators meet again this afternoon with Colleges Scotland, ahead of two strike days this week and with the ASOS ballot underway. An update will be sent out from the negotiators following this meeting.

We hope that no member goes to work as a strike-breaker because it weakens the strike in pursuit of winning this dispute, and weakens the collective nature of trade union membership.

All Scotland's FE students deserve to be taught by a qualified lecturer. We strike today to defend this right. Colleges Scotland must ratify the agreement already agreed by their negotiators and avoid further disruption in the sector. #CollegesNeedLecturers

@GregReidCS Also the fact that they pulled the original classroom product before having a replacement with similar tools ready leaves a general feeling of mistrust. Won't be fooled twice, can't rely on them.

@replit I'll look at teams at some point, wee note, in Scotland we take hols over the summer, changes to platform are huge, I had hoped that classroom would be good to June so I could sort my 21-22 workflow. Not got time to change in a few days after the hols. Easier to go old fashioned.

@replit @ScullionToni Which I really do appreciate, but teaching has enough changes without having to learn new workflows. Saying that, I will absolutely have a look at features when you have it ready and out of beta 👍🏻
