@McGannAmy@Sportimpactuk What a powerful conversation from a champion of sport, a champion for children and the #NationalSchoolSportChampion. Thank you @AlanWatkinson1 for inviting me to join you & Sir Mo Farah today & congratulations on a great conference #MosMission -60 minutes a day of PE sport & play
Wonderful to hear @Mo_Farah talk with such passion about teachers like @AlanWatkinson1 today.
His story is such a powerful reminder of just how essential our comprehensive schools, and those who work in them, are.
Yesterday was a huge day for the Youth Sport Trust as we launched our manifesto in parliament and shared the news that four-time Olympic and six-time World Champion, @Mo_Farah, will be joining us as our new Youth Sport Trust National School Sport Champion!🏆
To deliver for children and young people, we are calling for a new, long-term joined-up national plan guaranteeing every child access to the UK’s Chief Medical Officers’ guidance of 60 active minutes a day of moderate to vigorous physical activity by creating a nation of active and well schools.
This plan should:
1) Resource a dedicated coordination and delivery team working across a family of schools in every community
2) Introduce a new national wellbeing measurement for children, to track progress and target interventions
3) Protect and increase spaces for play and physical activity in every locality, and provide co-curricular sport for all children
4) Reimagine Physical Education, making it a core subject developing physically literate children, healthy learners and active citizens
5) Formalise existing youth sport leadership opportunities into a national young sport volunteers programme delivering year-round social action
Will you support us in our mission?

By now we're sure you've seen that @Mo_Farah, is joining us as our new Youth Sport Trust National School Sport Champion!🏆
When asked about Mo's mission and his goal as National School Sport Champion, this is what Mo had to say 👇
"In my new role as National School Sport Champion, it is my mission to get as many young people moving on a daily basis as possible. The power of sport helped me find my passion as a young person, so I’m firmly encouraging kids across the UK to get involved in ‘60 minutes a day - of PE, Sport and Play.”

Great to be at Houses of Parliament for the launch of @YouthSportTrust new Manifesto and hear @Mo_Farah pledge his mission for every child to get 60mins a day of PE, sport and play.
He'll do the MoBot only when he's completed 'Mo's Mission'! 💪🏽
So delighted to see this @BAFTA nomination. Sir Mo Farrah always champions the value of school sport & the role his PE Teacher @AlanWatkinson1 played in his life....we @YouthSportTrust are also proud to work with him 🤞🤞 https://t.co/ud8aiLnBVu

New research by the @YouthSportTrust demonstrates the potential devastating impact of #SchoolSport funding delays.
We urge government to immediately confirm that this essential funding will continue beyond the school year. #AtWhatCost?
Fewer than half of primary schools say they could keep children active if school sport funding is cut. #AtWhatCost?

@SeemaMalhotra1@Mo_Farah@SchsActiveMment@YouthSportTrust@afPE_PE Thank you for organising the meeting Seema. It was great to see the amount of cross party consensus in the debate in the house yesterday. Thank you also for an excellent speech supporting the infrastructure and the importance of PE.
Really useful meeting today with Hounslow Sport Impact’s @AlanWatkinson1 meeting Robin Walker MP, Chair of the Education Select Committee. We discussed school sport funding & work of the Schools Active Movement. Alan was @Mo_Farah’s PE teacher and has a lifetime of experience.
A hugely important research report published today - 3x50mins of physical activity a week reduces depression in young people by one third. I ask again… please can we base policy on evidence https://t.co/5kXUEFXxpT
