The Italian antitrust authority has launched an investigation, in collaboration with the European Commission, into Apple’s failure to comply with the DMA’s interoperability requirement for third-party cloud services.

L’#AGCM ha avviato un’indagine nei confronti delle società Apple Inc., Apple Distribution International Ltd e Apple Italia S.r.l. riguardo l’osservanza dell’obbligo di interoperabilità previsto dal Digital Markets Act (DMA) cui sono sottoposti i sistemi operativi iOS e iPadOS di Apple. Secondo l’#Autorità i fornitori terzi di servizi cloud consumer potrebbero non essere messi nelle stesse condizioni del servizio iCloud di Apple, perché non sembrano avere accesso alle stesse componenti utilizzate o rese disponibili al servizio iCloud.

È la prima volta che l’#Antitrust esercita i poteri previsti dall’articolo 38, par. 7, del DMA. Il procedimento è stato avviato in stretta cooperazione con la Commissione Ue alla quale saranno trasferiti i risultati dell’indagine perché è l’unica Autorità preposta all’applicazione del DMA.
