La respuesta de la FIFA fue inesperada: en lugar de proporcionar la información pedida, trató esa correspondencia como una apelación formal, designó un juez y le dio a Bélgica apenas unas horas para resolver el proceso, sin haberle entregado previamente ningún documento ni decisión motivada.

England deserved the win. Again a referee caused a big mess and put in danger the lives of the players with his wrong decisions. He gave a penalty against Harry Cain, which was not a real foul. The Mexican player extending the heels of shoe against H. Cane was the real foul.

A critical element that the "rulebook purists" arguing Balogun deserved a red card are conveniently overlooking:

BALOGUN was the one who was challenged from behind.

The Bosnian player played *through* Balogun from behind and placed himself in the path of Balogun's natural step.

When he begins taking that step, Balogun has no idea the Bosnian player would even be in front of him. In that sense, you can't really even consider his move a "challenge." It was simply a step that incidentally landed in the same place the opponent's foot did.

In fact, the reason Balogun's step came down so hard is *because* the Bosnian player challenged into him and knocked him off balance.

This is not "reckless" or "excessive force" by any stretch of the imagination.

The red card was *obviously* unjustified from the outset. The only thing FIFA got wrong here is not immediately suspending the red card after the match.

The referee's decision to expell the player Jarell Quansah was very wrong. He didn't deserve more than a yellow card. The decision caused a lot of stress for anybody involved, the teams and their supporters. The referee should be punished.

FIFA will apologize to England following the wrongful dismissal of Jarell Quansah against Mexico. They have confirmed the challenge should not have been considered reckless or dangerous, and that the referee made a mistake by awarding a straight red card.

According to officials, the incident did not meet the threshold for serious foul play, meaning England were left to play with 10 men because of an incorrect decision.

FIFA have also suggested that the foul involving Harry Kane, which led to Mexico's penalty, was not a clear and obvious error and therefore should never have been reviewed by the referee in the first place. Despite that, the VAR team still sent him to the monitor where he chose to award a penalty for only minimal contact.
