@colonel_dg @M1D3V Yeah it's part of the process, especially when you start out, ask any journo, from your guys on TV to the guys just writing for their local paper, and you'd be a liar if you say you haven't got sucked in at least once or twice.

@fingerj86 @kristiandwyer India was terrible with that aspect, I was working for the ISL too (not a huge role, but still) and had a lot of good sources on that one. Add that to the fact that Bratts was trying to leave Syd (which he now has) I thought it was a slam dunk, just fell to pieces, oh well! 🤣🤷

@kristiandwyer I interviewed Dylan McGowan for my book, and he'd mentioned that I had my ear close to the ground RE a move I posted about him going to Kerala, in the ISL, and it was 99.9% done, it didn't happen... I was thinking, fuck man, you could've backed me up there 🤣 I got a hiding! 🤣

@kristiandwyer Don't get me wrong, I had some times where I thought defending myself was the best course of action, which it wasn't.

But I quickly realised, who's gonna take it seriously if I can't own to my fuck ups, I had a few, that's part of cutting your teeth, but you need to have growth.

@kristiandwyer As nice as it is to have people go "great job with that news" when you get a good scoop, you've also gotta be able to say "I'll do better next time, sorry" when you get it wrong, you will get things wrong, I guess it's how you deal with it that's important, which I learned quick.

From loading trucks for the Good Guys after the collapse of the NSL to captaining his side at only 22 and representing his country on the world stage.

@inthemixer It's harder than people realise to make a list of the "greatest" of 29 years of the A-League, there's been a lot of players who have been fantastic.

I think I had a similar number when I initially drafted this book.

@inthemixer He actually didn't even get picked up in season 1 of the A-League, which is NUTS.

I remember preparing to write his chapters with him and interview him, and having to triple check.

One of the best guys I've ever met, humble, hard-working and a hugely under-rated footballer.
