Analicemos esta cita juntos:

“Es fácil aferrarse a los principios cuando es la libertad de otro la que está en juego.”

La frase no empieza acusando a una dictadura. Empieza acusando algo más común: la comodidad moral. La gente ama “los principios”… cuando no le cuestan nada.

“Es fácil” no significa “es malo tener principios”. Significa: es barato.

“Cuando es la libertad de otro…”
Aquí está el núcleo: otro.

No eres tú el perseguido. No es tu hijo el que puede ser detenido. No es tu familia la que vive con miedo. Desde afuera, muchos hablan de Venezuela como si fuera un debate académico, no una guerra contra la dignidad humana.

“Desde una distancia segura…”
Esta es una acusación directa al ecosistema internacional: analistas, ONG, editoriales, diplomáticos, “expertos”, think tanks, políticos.

Muchos opinan desde un lugar donde nada les puede pasar si se equivocan… pero sí le pasa a los venezolanos.

“Muchos esperan que los líderes democráticos… persigan sus objetivos con una pureza moral…”
El autor desarma la trampa: a la democracia venezolana se le exige pureza, a la dictadura solo se le exige “contención”.

A unos se les pide santidad. A otros se les tolera el crimen como si fuera “realpolitik”.

“Pureza moral” es una palabra brutal, porque revela el chantaje:
•si negocias → “te vendiste”
•si presionas → “eres radical”
•si denuncias → “polarizas”
•si pides fuerza → “eres extremista”
Mientras tanto, el régimen no juega ese juego: juega el de la represión.

“…que sus adversarios jamás muestran.”
Esta línea es un espejo.
Los adversarios —el régimen— no muestran pureza moral porque su estructura no es política: es criminal.

Y sin embargo, hay quienes siguen exigiendo ���modales” a la víctima y “paciencia” frente al victimario.

“Esa expectativa es irreal…”
Irreal = desconectada de la naturaleza del conflicto.
No estás en Noruega. No estás en Suiza.

Estás enfrentando un aparato que usa cárcel, tortura, exilio, censura y miedo como herramientas rutinarias. Pedir “perfección” aquí es pedir rendición.

“…injusta…”
Injusta = doble estándar.
La oposición es juzgada por intenciones, tonos y sutilezas.
El régimen, en cambio, es juzgado por “estabilidad”, “gobernabilidad”, “control”.
A la democracia se le exige moral; a la tiranía se le concede tiempo. Esa es la injusticia.

“…y revela un profundo desconocimiento de la historia.”
La historia de cualquier liberación real nunca fue limpia ni cómoda.

Quien pide manuales “ideales” suele no entender la naturaleza de los regímenes criminales: no se contienen con buenas intenciones. Se contienen con presión.

Y ahora lo más importante: quién lo dice.
No es un influencer. No es un exiliado (como nosotros). No es un político en campaña.
Es el presidente del Comité Nobel Noruego. Esa voz representa algo: el termómetro moral de una parte del mundo.

Que esa institución diga esto significa que el discurso global está cambiando:
durante años se premió la narrativa de “la presión es mala”, “no incomoden”, “negocien con criminales”, “sean moderados”.

Hoy, desde más micrófonos, se empieza a admitir lo obvio: la moderación frente al crimen no es virtud.

Y por eso esta cita incomoda tanto: porque desnuda la conducta de muchos actores internacionales.

No es neutralidad. No es prudencia.
Es diligencia selectiva: fiscalizan a la oposición con lupa, pero ante el régimen bajan la voz, suavizan el lenguaje y piden “calma”.

Lo que ha cambiado en el mundo es esto: cada vez es más difícil sostener la ficción de que Venezuela es “un conflicto político normal”.

No. Venezuela es un caso de persecución sistemática, destrucción institucional y violencia estatal. Y la gente que lo maquilla se está quedando sin argumentos.

Por eso esta cita importa.
Porque pone en evidencia el truco: exigir moral impecable a quien lucha por su libertad, mientras se normaliza a quienes la aplastan.
La historia no recordará a los que “opinaron bonito”. Recordará a quienes estuvieron del lado correcto.

María Corina Machado: Look, some people talk about an invasion in Venezuela, the threat of an invasion, and I answer: Venezuela has already been invaded. We have Russian agents. We have Iranian agents. We have terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas operating freely with the regime’s approval.

We have the Colombian guerrilla and drug cartels controlling 60% of our territory, involved not only in drug trafficking but also in human trafficking and networks of prostitution. This has turned Venezuela into the criminal hub of the Americas.

What sustains the regime is a very powerful, well-funded system of repression. Where does that funding come from? From drug trafficking, the black market in oil, arms trafficking, and human trafficking.

We need to cut those flows. Once that happens and the repression is weakened, it’s over, because violence and terror are all the regime has left. We ask the international community to cut those sources, because the regimes supporting Maduro and the criminal networks have turned Venezuela into a safe haven for their operations across Latin America.
