The Story of Mia – The Paralysed Dog Who Never Stopped Smiling 💖

Mia is a small female dog who became known for her radiant smile, despite being paralysed in her hind legs.

In 2023, when she was still a tiny puppy, Mia was struck by a vehicle in the Rif Mountains of Morocco. The accident left her paralysed from the waist down. Alone and helpless, she survived in an abandoned construction site and car park, dragging herself across the ground. She suffered from a severe bladder infection and multiple open wounds.

Fortunately, a member of a rescue organisation happened to spot her while driving home. Mia was immediately taken to the rescue centre. After her first gentle bath, it was as though she came back to life. Beneath the dirt and fear was a playful little dog, full of energy and wearing a cheerful smile that rarely left her face.

Not long afterwards, Mia was adopted by a family in the Netherlands, even though they had never cared for a disabled dog before. She travelled to Europe and began a new life filled with love. She received a custom-made wheelchair, regular physiotherapy, and all the care and affection she could have hoped for.

In her new home, Mia lives with two cats, one of whom is named Dino. At first, she constantly tugged at Dino's tail, eager to play. Dino soon taught her a few feline manners, and today he has become a gentle and protective older companion.

Mia now enjoys a happy and active life. She loves carrying everyone's shoes around the house and is always ready to play with anyone she meets. Her story was featured by The Dodo and touched people around the world, showing that dogs living with paralysis can still lead joyful, loving lives filled with enthusiasm and warmth.
