Today, @SenBlumenthal and I introduced the Save the Kurds Act.
I believe that there is strong bipartisan support for the idea of protecting the Kurds in Syria and beyond because they have been such a reliable ally to the United States. The SDF – with a large Kurdish element – took the brunt of the fight to defeat ISIS in President Trump’s first term.
I realize Syria is complicated culturally, ethnically and politically. However, attacking the Kurds greatly diminishes the United States’ standing and will hinder Syria’s ability to grow as a country.
To those countries or groups who believe it is open season on the Kurds in Syria without consequence, you will be sadly mistaken.

A fine article on Issa Touma, Syrian photographer from Aleppo who constantly attacked the Baathist regime before the uprising about his view of the opposition militias.

The silence of Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi on Iran massacre is not accidental.
Why?
Iran’s revolution is nationalist and secular.
It’s Iran first, anti radical Islamist, anti theocracy. That directly conflicts with globalist ideology, which distrusts nationalism and strong nation states.
It exposes the failure of political Islam.
Supporting Iranians would mean admitting decades of Western engagement with “Islamic movements” empowered a brutal regime. That’s a political and moral failure they don’t want to own.
It doesn’t fit identity politics.
Iranian protesters aren’t waving Western progressive slogans. They’re demanding sovereignty, culture, and secularism. That makes them inconvenient.
Silence protects past policies.
Speaking out would reopen questions about nuclear deals, appeasement, and legitimizing a regime that massacres its own people.
The Iranian revolution threatens both Islamist narratives and globalist control. That’s why the globalist left looks away.

If Petraeus and Jolani seem like good friends, reunited in New York after years apart, that's because in 2012 while serving as CIA director, Petraeus was sending weapons to Jolani's Nusra Front in Syria via the 'rat line' from Libya. See the excerpt about this from my book, 'Creative Chaos,' below.
🚨US Envoy to Syria @USAMBTurkiye Tom Barrack says the religious minorities in Syria will need to SUBMIT to ISIS under Julani 🚨
Further proving how uninformed he is, US Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack just did an interview in which he said there will never peace in Syria and that because there is no Arabic word for “submit”, the religious minorities in Syria need to submit.
To submit in Islam means to either convert or be slaughtered in the name of Islam.
Tom Barrack should resign.
What an absolute disgrace and embarrassment to the United States. For a US official to entertain Islamic supremacy as a viable option is not only un-American, but it’s inhumane and it signals that the US will tolerate Islamic jihad.
Barrack made these comments while Julani, the ISIS terrorist President of Syria is currently roaming around NYC meeting with Muslims during Rosh Hashanah (great optics bringing an ISIS terrorist to a city full of Jews during Rosh Hashanah).
Is Tom Barrack trying to get Americans killed? Is he trying to get Christians, Druze and Jews killed? Julani has overseen the massacre of THOUSANDS of religious minorities in Syria since toppling Assad. Thousands of innocent people have been viciously MURDERED by this Islamic ANIMAL.
This is unacceptable. Someone should let Tom Barrack know that the reason why there is no Arabic word for SUBMIT is because Islam calls for the killing of all non-Muslims.
If he doesn’t understand this, he should be removed from his post for the sake of US national security.
I cannot believe my ears. @marcorubio@StateDept
NEW:
The vetting crisis in the Trump administration doesn’t only extend to staffers, but it also extends to US ambassadors.
Tom Barrack @USAMBTurkiye, the billionaire real estate mogul turned U.S. Special Envoy to Syria and Ambassador to Turkey, faces mounting scrutiny over his prioritizing of Islamic foreign interests over American values, and his brazen enabling of jihadist violence that undermines U.S. credibility in the Middle East.
Tom Barrack Is A DISASTROUS Diplomatic Appointment Who Enables Jihadist Expansion In The Middle East
Barrack, a longtime political fundraiser with ties to Gulf monarchies, lacks traditional diplomatic or national security credentials. His appointment to high-level diplomatic posts is alarming, given that his primary expertise lies in leveraging political connections for financial gain. His lack of regional expertise and deep financial ties to foreign regimes make him unfit for roles shaping U.S. policy in volatile regions like Syria.
In 2021, Barrack was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice for acting as an unregistered foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates, accused of using his access to the Trump administration to advance Emirati interests. The charges highlighted encrypted communications, undisclosed financial ties to UAE and Qatari sovereign wealth funds, and attempts to influence U.S. policy without proper disclosure.
Though acquitted in 2022, the trial exposed Barrack’s extensive connections to Gulf states and raised questions about his loyalty. “The acquittal didn’t clear his name—it exposed his playbook,” said a former State Department official, speaking anonymously due to the sensitivity of the matter.
Syria: A Foreign Policy Disaster
As Special Envoy to Syria, Barrack has been accused of whitewashing atrocities committed by Al-Qaeda-linked factions, such as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), and rebranding them as “tribal militias” to shield Qatar- and Turkey-backed groups. Sources in IC tell me he ignored Israeli intelligence warnings about an impending massacre of Druze civilians in Suwayda, Syria, and later condemned IDF operations targeting jihadist convoys, deflecting blame from the perpetrators.
The consequences were catastrophic. In Suwayda, hundreds of Druze civilians were reportedly raped, mutilated, and executed by HTS-led forces. Since Julani’s massacre, leaked communications reveal Barrack’s office attempted to shift blame to Israel for Julani’s ISIS inspired killings of the Druze.
Barrack has falsely claimed that HTS leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani’s forces were “not even in the city”. His claim has been contradicted by video evidence and survivor testimonies. Captured Syrian soldiers admitted to donning ISIS and Sunni Bedouin garb to carry out systematic executions of Druze women and children, with survivors identifying Julani’s forces as the attackers.
Tom Barrack Has A Pattern of Alleged Corruption
Barrack has a history of opaque financial dealings and what many view as political influence peddling. His real estate empire, intertwined with Gulf investments, has long raised concerns about conflicts of interest and whether he is truly serving America, or if he is flashing his political access.
His tenure as ambassador to Turkey has drawn particular ire for aligning U.S. policy with Turkish and Qatari interests, including shielding Islamist proxies like the Muslim Brotherhood. Such actions betray U.S. allies like Israel and undermine efforts to counter jihadist expansion in the Levant.
For the sake of US national security, Tom Barrack should face immediate removal from his diplomatic roles. I understand many in the Trump admin view Barrack as a friend, & even a donor, so let him go back to being just that, instead of an Ambassador.
Barrack’s actions have cost lives and eroded America’s moral standing. His continued enabling of Julani is a threat to US national security and all non-Muslim religious minorities.

The massacre of unarmed Christians and Alawites in northwest Syria is abhorrent – a reminder of why the U.S. should proceed with caution in Syria. The Syrian interim authorities must exercise control over the use of force – militias outside of government control are a threat to the region and Americans. https://t.co/1RJykBjgGI
