@RevRichardColes Well, what could be better? Søren Kierkegaard studied in Newcastle University’s philosophy department, with modules like Existentialism and the Self. Additionally, Newcastle University's student journal, ‘Kierkegaard in Process’, is dedicated to his work.
@Civis_Major@simon_schama Cis-Jordan (this side of the River Jordan), just as modern Jordan was known under the Mandate as Trans-Jordan (across the River Jordan).
@Road_2_Ft_Worth Tariffs are a regressive tax, hurting ordinary Americans - a dagger to the finances of the working-classes and middle-class but merely a pinprick for the rich.
Then again, Congress could always take back the power of tariffs from the White House. Oh wait, it’s full of rich folks.
@afneil The policy of Ceaușescu is responsible for the proliferation of ownerless dogs in Bucharest. People forced out of their homes to accommodate his megalomaniacal building spree couldn’t support a pet as well so the dogs went free. I’ve seen whole packs loitering on street corners.

(PS: X functionality effectively banned me for weeks saying ‘oops, something went wrong’ and then logged me out by itself)
It has taken medical science 200 years to advance humans to the point where people are so healthy and living so long that they can deny that science and medicine is what got us here.

@Road_2_Ft_Worth Funny you mention Oberon now as that’s the name of the meteorite alien life-form in the apocalyptic computer game Atomfall, in an alternate universe where British nuclear powerplant Windscale was built over it as a cover for experimentation. Last few days I’ve got into this game.
@mwgbanks1@mikepompeo No-one in America complained about the big bucks funnelled to the Afghan resistance to the Soviet invasion during the 1980s. Because it was in the USA’s wider interests to weaken a competitor. Only an isolationist ostrich fails to see that Ukraine is in the USA’s wider interests.
@AmbBridgetBrink As with the shuttering of USAID and their approach to gun violence, one more piece of proof that Republicans hate all life that is outside the womb.
@RupertMyers Though the recruiter sounds like a bit of a dick.
Had a friend who moved to Dubai but after seven years he came back to the UK because though well-paid, there were very few eligible women there. Nick’s going to find that out too. My friend has a family now, settled in the UK.
@davidfrum You’re taking great pains to paint Mamdani as Jeremy Corbyn but he’s more like Ken Livingstone, who as ‘Red Ken’ ran the Greater London Council in the 1980s and returned to run London as mayor for eight years from the year 2000. Compare apples with apples and cities with cities.
@Road_2_Ft_Worth I’m like this, except I take it a step further - it’s wrinkled on the bed but I don’t care as I’m sleeping, unconscious to it’s alleged slovenliness, not wearing it out on the town (can you imagine the looks if I did and not because it was wrinkled).
@RupertMyers Reminds me of a GLC-era Ken Livingstone, notably the Fares Fair policy and tacitly endorsing unsavoury characters and their movements.
London survived.
@Road_2_Ft_Worth I had forgotten my password to the old account (and wasn’t sure it still existed - you know how it is with X) but whenever I remembered to reset it, I wasn’t near my computer.
@Road_2_Ft_Worth I’m back in the game! X for some reason not disclosed logged me out without permission and started me with a fresh account, without prior choices. I looked for Road 2 Fort Worth but couldn’t find you.
