@afneil The policy of Ceaușescu is responsible for the proliferation of ownerless dogs in Bucharest. People forced out of their homes to accommodate his megalomaniacal building spree couldn’t support a pet as well so the dogs went free. I’ve seen whole packs loitering on street corners.

@Road_2_Ft_Worth Funny you mention Oberon now as that’s the name of the meteorite alien life-form in the apocalyptic computer game Atomfall, in an alternate universe where British nuclear powerplant Windscale was built over it as a cover for experimentation. Last few days I’ve got into this game.

Had a friend who moved to Dubai but after seven years he came back to the UK because though well-paid, there were very few eligible women there. Nick’s going to find that out too. My friend has a family now, settled in the UK.

@davidfrum You’re taking great pains to paint Mamdani as Jeremy Corbyn but he’s more like Ken Livingstone, who as ‘Red Ken’ ran the Greater London Council in the 1980s and returned to run London as mayor for eight years from the year 2000. Compare apples with apples and cities with cities.
