@BrewertonLuke If you like German WW2 bunkers and structures you’re in for one hell of a treat in Guernsey. Nick knows his stuff and unlike Normandy they’re all intact in the Channel Islands as they didn’t get bombed like those in France.
@Empireaesth They stopped doing it after this as so many locals turned up to show their loyalty the Germans didn’t bother after this. All future ones were done quietly.
@IslandsAtWar@Nickleh But did this work the other way, e.g. on D-Day were German units ordered to France or were they all kept behind on the threat of an allied invasion to the islands?
@IslandsAtWar@Nickleh A general question I would like answered after reading about the occupation and visting many times. After D-Day we know the islands become isolated after the loss of Cherbourg and St Malo, troop numbers increased as soldiers fled France to the islands.
@_num4 If it’s unsecured all that would happen is it will go through their collections process, it will eventually default. At this point it’ll stay or your credit file for 6 x years and the debt will be sold to a collection agency to manage. They’ll they chase you for it but that’s it.
@Nickleh@GuyPlummer34449@advocategreen1 Spot on. I’ve read, watched and studied loads on the occupation as well as listening to your great podcast. Anyone thinking in June 1940 with everything that was happening that the islands could be defended needs to have another look at the wider situation.
