the public is torn over Clancy because her conduct was so horrific. There is nothing wrong with a juror failing to agree with 11 others. That is the system. But it must be based on law and due process when considering the fate of the accused. To those "celebrating" a holdout juror who wanted to convict as a hero, have you considered the serious allegation that the juro "reverse nullified" in favor of the prosecution and may have refused to support an NGRI verdict while acknowledging the DA failed to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt? Certainly we all agree that it would violate due process to convict a person where jurors find reasonable doubt. Be careful celebrating that simply because you understandably despise one defendant. There are larger issues to consider. Next time it could be you or someone you care about facing a jury.

The only time I will mention the Clancy trial on here (as someone who spent 3 years in defence including a female NGRI homicide case. and actually WATCHED every single day of the trial - taking full attendance notes as if I was on the jury/defence).

I hope to god that none of the people cheering on that 1 male juror EVER get called for jury duty.

The fact you refuse to, or just pretend you don’t, understand that 11 people had reasonable doubt, and that this one man did admit he had doubts but said he didn’t care, completely ignoring the law on reasonable doubt and the judges instructions is genuinely frightening.

This was not a “I genuinely believe this on the facts, the forensic and testimonial evidence, and the judges instructions as to the law as to what’s being asked of me” and they simply disagreed on verdict. That wouldn’t be an issue. This man told his fellow jurors that yes, he did actually see points of doubt, but he was going to ignore that entirely.

He should be held in contempt as this is jurors misconduct. And I hope to god none of you ever have to be judged by a juror like that.

Genuinely embarrassing that some people think someone not following the law of the principle of reasonable doubt during the process of their civic duty is “based” or something to admire. And more embarrassing still, that you speak on this with such confidence without knowing a single element of the case other than what you’ve seen from snippets from right wing podcast bros online.

You didn’t watch the case, you don’t understand what’s even being asked of the jury, you continue to ignore the actual background of any of the legal arguments, you refuse to acknowledge the constitutional right of presumption of innocence and fair trial, you play “hear no evil, see no evil” around the ‘admissions’ without acknowledging all of the not guilty pleas, you don’t understand why an NGRI defence was raised or the circumstances surrounding it, and you don’t even understand what’s happening legally, forensically, medically, psychologically. Whatsoever.

Honestly disappointing seeing seemingly smart people behave like that. Particularly people who claim to have discernment.

I’m a mother. I had severe postpartum OCD and anxiety. I know what it feels like to be terrified by your own brain after having a baby. I got through it because I had an incredibly supportive husband and a doctor who regularly called and texted to make sure I was okay.

Lindsay Clancy was asking for help too. In the four months before her children died, she was prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications by multiple providers, more than 30 prescriptions total.

Before you reduce this case to “evil mother,” ask why a postpartum woman could repeatedly seek psychiatric help, take that many medications, become increasingly unwell, and still end up at home in that condition.

And this is part of a much bigger problem. Our system is very good at writing prescriptions and much worse at actually supporting women postpartum. There is far more money in medication than there is in months of therapy, sleep support, home help, frequent follow-up, and someone actually looking at the whole person.

That does not mean psychiatric medication is bad. It saves lives. But if a woman is given 13 different medications in four months and is still deteriorating, “she was being treated” should not end the conversation. It should start a much harder one about why she was getting worse while everyone kept changing the prescription.

Postpartum psychosis is super rare, roughly 1–2 per 1,000 births, but it can involve hallucinations, delusions, and a complete break from reality.

You can grieve those children, hold the horror of what happened, and still recognize that this woman appears to have been failed long before that night.

If your only takeaway is hatred for the mother, you’re ignoring the part of this tragedy that could actually prevent the next one.
