I remember when ‘The Wolf of Wallstreet’ came out.

Many watched and thought “wow what a great life”.

They saw how someone could rapidly attain success and live a life beyond their wildest dreams.

What they seem to have missed is this key tenet that those who explode over night will implode in a moment and that’s exactly what happened.

I remember watching this story unfold and thinking about how sad it was. But I saw distinctly that there are two paths in life, there is the fast route - cut any corner necessary, lie, cheat, steal and take no prisoners. The caveat is that you will spend your life with a cloud hanging over you. You will always be looking over your shoulder, anticipating being caught or the foundations beginning to disintegrate.

Then there is the slow route - do everything with precision and care, be as transparent as possible, prioritise others and build for the long term. The caveat is that progress will not come overnight, it may take years. You might not be as rich or as popular, but you’ll have lived honourably and your conscience will be clear.

The fast route was never even an option for me.
