Lovely afternoon speaking at Lewes Speakers Festival on Margaret Thatcher. Interviewer was @AlexPuffette. A very engaged, and surprisingly pro Thatcher audience given it was in rather Bohemian Lewes!
Had such a lovely evening last night speaking as part of a panel hosted by @IainDale on ‘The Dictators’. Thank you to @StPetersYork and @politicsastar for your excellent hospitality, along with to the audience for coming along and asking some brilliant questions.
Really excited to be speaking at @StPetersYork next Friday about The Dictators, and the subject of my chapter in it, Napoleon Bonaparte. The panel will be hosted by @IainDale, and my fellow panellists are Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, Adam Boulton, and Justin Hill.
Excited to have written the chapter on Napoleon Bonaparte in @IainDale’s ‘The Dictators’ which is out today. To write about such an infamous figure, and to be alongside so many incredible contributors, is a great honour. A huge thank you to Iain for the opportunity!
As my MP for as long as I can remember, @GregClarkMP has served the people of Tunbridge Wells with unrivalled dedication and integrity. Equally, for the last five years Greg has been a fantastic mentor to me, which no doubt he will continue to be in whatever he does next.
After nearly 20 years as MP for Tunbridge Wells I will not be standing at the General Election.
I am grateful and proud to have been able to speak and fight for the people of this beautiful and famous place. Standing is a 5 year commitment and it’s time to pass the baton on.
With polling day coming round again in Tunbridge Wells, my message is the same as last year. Good luck to all candidates, we all care about our fantastic town and spend time talking to residents about the issues that matter to them. It’s important work, and long may it continue!
Good luck to all the candidates standing in Tunbridge Wells today particularly those like me standing for the first time. It’s important to remember what we all have in common, we get involved in local politics because we truly care about our brilliant town.
Really excited that the first book I’ve worked on as @IainDale’s Researcher has been released today. ‘British General Election Campaigns 1830 - 2019’, which is available in all good bookshops and online, covers almost two hundred years of elections, with fifty fantastic chapters.
Such a pleasure to spend the day shadowing the brilliant @PennyMordaunt and her team in Portsmouth. Their dedication to deliver for the people of Portsmouth North could not be clearer.
Last night our very own YC @AlexPuffette did a great job👏of Chairing our YC Talk with The Rt Hon @AndrewmitchMP, who spoke on the topic of international development. Thank you to all the YC's that attended and submitted questions for Andrew to answer!
A pleasure to be invited to speak at a @WFD_Democracy event in Westminster today in my role as YC Coordinator for Kent. Great to talk about my experience as a young person involved in politics, and to hear the experiences of others.
Great to host the first @TWellsYC Talks event last night with @IainDale and @GregClarkMP. Thanks to all who came, especially Iain and Greg for being such brilliant guests.
Delighted to feature in today’s @LBC For The Many Podcast, hosted by @IainDale and @Jacqui_Smith1, in my first media outing as Young Conservatives Coordinator for Kent. If you’re expecting a traditional interview, prepare to be surprised!
I’ve written in @TWGSB Alumni Connect about my experience standing in the local elections as a young person, and why I think other young people should do the same 👇 https://t.co/Ol4Qh1lXPC
Alex Puffette (Con) who stood in St Johns which was won by Lib Dem’s and is the youngest candidate at 19.
“It’s been a great experience but it was an expected result. We absolutely need more young people represented in local councils.”

Good luck to all the candidates standing in Tunbridge Wells today particularly those like me standing for the first time. It’s important to remember what we all have in common, we get involved in local politics because we truly care about our brilliant town.
If you told me when I voted for the first time last year in St John’s that a year later my name would be on the ballot I wouldn’t have believed you! As the youngest candidate in today’s TWBC election I’m standing as we need councillors who understand what young people face.
