An Alexander technique teacher I used to work with in New York taught me this. She learned it from working with Navy Seals, who received this mantra as part of their training.
It's a piece of wisdom I'm continually forgetting and needing.
Alexander Technique is immensely practical. John Dewey stated it was "scientific in the strictest sense of the word" & "satisfies the most exacting demands of scientific method". It stands up to scrutiny.
@QiaochuYuan If your knees are falling outward, move the feet away from each other a little. If the knees are falling together, move the feet a little closer. Also, feet not too close to the bottom.

@suzemargar Hah, yes! Seen the same, a bucket of cement with a wooden pole (slightly off centre) sticking out, about 5-6Kg. When grasping the wooden pole, you realise just how amazing it is that we are upright at all.
