As I’ve frequently said, the United States doesn’t lose wars, it loses the public.

If war was conducted like WW2, then the United States would have achieved all of its goals in literally every single war it has fought since WW2.

Oh, the Chinese keep pushing across the border to aid the North Koreans? Firebomb every inch of North Korea. The NVA is crossing the border? Firebomb Hanoi to the ground. Afghanistan constantly harassing US troops? Raze the entire countryside.

Empires are forged in the fire of maximum brutality and violence, not in beautiful palaces with signed accords between sides. Though I understand why the United States didn’t go this route:
1. It wanted to be seen as a moral empire.
2. It wanted to be a global hegemon, not just a Western one

Still, one or two nations should’ve been made an example of what happens when you dare to oppose the power of the West
