@ljdubcan Hi Lindy,
Soft body armor is issued to all park enforcement staff to provide an additional level of personal protection to officers. Soft body armor is a common piece of safety equipment worn by law enforcement officers.
It is World Female Ranger Week and we are celebrating the women of Algonquin Provincial Park!
👏 A huge shoutout to the *many* incredible women who work in Algonquin Provincial Park.
Bass opener is Saturday, June 27th here in Algonquin Provincial Park! 🎣
When fishing in Algonquin we ask that you consider fishing lead free. Lead is a toxic metal that is harmful to both humans and wildlife, particularly waterfowl.
Have fun and tight lines!

How are the bugs right now? We'll let these photos speak for themselves. 🦟
Our suggestion?
- wear light-coloured clothing and/or bug nets and jackets
- use bug sprays and natural scents
- invest in bug tents or screen shelters
- try to find windy areas

Happy International Trails Day
🥾 🚲 🎿
Today we want to say a big THANK YOU to our teams that maintain our trails!
What is your favourite trail in the park?!
The Thunderbox: the ‘toilet’ found on backcountry campsites in Algonquin Provincial Park. It is a simple cedar box with a hole on the seat and a closeable lid, placed over a hole in the ground.
The rules are simple: they are for human waste and toilet paper only – NOT garbage.
Three beautiful, white flowers seen on a recent walk on Fork Lake Trail - how many can you identify?
Hints:
Photo 1 - Not pencil, crayon, or pastel...
Photo 2 - Same name as a bestselling book...
Photo 3 - You'd usually expect it to be purple...
