Happy International Trails Day
🥾 🚲 🎿
Today we want to say a big THANK YOU to our teams that maintain our trails!
What is your favourite trail in the park?!
The Thunderbox: the ‘toilet’ found on backcountry campsites in Algonquin Provincial Park. It is a simple cedar box with a hole on the seat and a closeable lid, placed over a hole in the ground.
The rules are simple: they are for human waste and toilet paper only – NOT garbage.
Three beautiful, white flowers seen on a recent walk on Fork Lake Trail - how many can you identify?
Hints:
Photo 1 - Not pencil, crayon, or pastel...
Photo 2 - Same name as a bestselling book...
Photo 3 - You'd usually expect it to be purple...
Happy World Turtle Day!🐢

Avoid Axe-idents!
Axe-related injuries are some of the most serious and frequent emergencies we see, especially in our backcountry. Our rangers most commonly see axe injuries to the shin or toes.

After that long winter, we are loving looking out at our lakes and seeing *water* and not *ice*
🛶 🚤 🎣 🏊
⚠️ Although our lakes are now 'ice-free', they are still 'ice-cold' and submersion in the water could quickly become a life-threatening situation this time of year.

Fishing trout in Algonquin this spring? Consider fishing lead free!
Did you know that a single lost sinker or jig contains enough lead to kill a Common Loon or other waterbird?
Help protect our lakes and wildlife while enjoying the outdoors.
