What if carrying a knife isn’t always about wanting violence — but about fearing it?

For some young people, carrying a weapon can feel like protection. But feeling unsafe should never have to become a reason to carry.

That’s why prevention has to begin before the weapon appears by listening earlier, supporting earlier, and creating environments where young people feel safe, heard and protected.

Because sometimes the better question isn’t just “Why are they carrying a knife?”

It’s “What made them feel they needed one?”
