According to the Iranian regime’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, only hundredsnot thousands—of peaceful protesters have been murdered.
If this claim is true, why doesn’t Iran turn the internet back on so the rest of the world can see what is happening in the streets?
My PhD student, Ali Karimirad, is on the job market this year. He has written a very creative thesis on misallocations in production networks due to financial frictions. Do check him out. https://t.co/khe0g7a3nU

💡 The crux lies in intricate sector and firm connections. Reduction in TFP hinges on these interactions. Twist: If a sector over-demands with fixed factors and lacks cross-sectoral ties, limited liability hikes prices without impacting welfare.

📢 Exciting Research Alert!
🌐✨ My job market paper unveils the profound impact of limited liability in a multi-sectoral, general equilibrium model with an endogenous probability of default.
⚙️ Limited liability triggers a cascade, driving riskier behavior and over-accumulation of resources—extending beyond financial assets to critical resources like intermediate inputs. The ripple effect? A tangible reduction in aggregate TFP, reshaping resource allocation.
Ali has an outstanding JMP on the role of financial and contracting frictions within a model of trade credit - but his modeling innovations for financial frictions with roundabout production functions are much more general.
We show that the current linear approximation is biased for large shocks and that the nonlinear second-order effects we account for significantly reduce this bias

4⃣ In "Nonlinearities in Production Network Economies with Distortions", I explore with @AliKarimi_rad the importance of nonlinearities (second-order effects) on aggregate TFP for economies with distortions and production networks
