TODAY IS A HISTORICAL DAY!

Today, the 25th June 2026 which corresponds to 10th Muharram 1448 AH Islamic Calendar, is an important day. Millions of Muslims are fasting to mark the day, known as Ashoora, to express gratitude to Allah for saving Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) and the Children of Israel from their bondage under the tyrannical Pharoah of Egypt. It’s the day God split/ parted the Red Sea to save them, and destroyed the Pharoah who claimed deity. Musa fasted on this day in thanksgiving to his Lord, and so did his followers, the Jews, at the time.

The Quran states in 26:23 “Then we inspired to Musa, ‘strike with your staff the sea’ and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain”. Musa and the Israelites crossed to safety. The Pharoah & his people drowned. It’s triumph of faith over oppression. Quran 10:92 further tells Pharoah: “Today we will preserve your corpse so that you may become an example for those who come after you. And surely, most people are heedless of our examples”. His embalmed body is on display in Egyptian museum to date!

At the time, the Israelites were believers, and Musa was sent to free them from the Pharoah. Today, the so-called Israeli people living in the occupied territories of Palestine are not Israelites. They do not worship Allah. They are committing genocide and ethnic cleansing on industrial scale. Yet, Muslims still celebrate the freedom of Israelites on this historical occasion as directed by our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

The story of Prophet Musa (Moses) is the most oft-repeated history of triumph over tyranny, and divine protection, in the Quran and is of profound significance in Islam. Musa is not only the most frequently mentioned Prophet in the Quran but shares many similarities with Prophet Muhammad in his mission.

May Allah free the people of Palestine from the oppression & tyranny of the settler-colonialists in Israel the way he freed the Children of Israel from slavery.
