Bessent's Bond Market Circus: Trump's Treasury Clown Flushes His Credibility Down the Toilet
Scott Bessent, Trump's hand-picked Treasury secretary and chief financial enabler, just flushed what's left of his reputation down the toilet in a desperate, shortsighted stunt to juice the bond market for his boss's political survival.
Faced with the corrupt conman's frantic demands to lower long-term borrowing costs ahead of the midterms, Bessent rolled out a surprise bond-buying scheme. Traders got a fleeting, phony rally. Rates dipped briefly from near two-decade highs. Then the illusion collapsed. The move fizzled, left markets guessing what reckless gimmick comes next, and confirmed what serious people already knew: this corrupt and incompetent regime treats the Treasury market — the lifeblood of the global financial system — like a cheap campaign prop for a wannabe dictator.
Longtime allies are done pretending. Stanley Druckenmiller, Bessent's former mentor and a real Wall Street heavyweight, called the intervention a straight-up mistake that risks higher borrowing costs, shreds fiscal guardrails, and erodes confidence in U.S. debt. Mohamed El-Erian, once a booster, is now openly worried: continued meddling in relatively stable markets "takes us to a different place." Mark Dowding of BlueBay Fixed Income said it plainly — the market is not granting Bessent the credibility he deludes himself into believing he has.
The dollar slipped. Gold climbed. Classic signals that investors smell the rot in U.S. policy credibility. Bessent spent years selling himself as the steady Wall Street hand and bond salesman who could keep markets calm. Instead, by chasing Trump's midterm-rigging fantasies, he has undermined the very trust required to stabilize markets in a real crisis and to borrow cheaply when it actually matters.
This isn't clever stewardship. It's reckless, dangerous buffoonery — Trump barking orders from the reality-TV throne, Bessent obediently trashing the one job that actually keeps Wall Street from bolting. The catastrophic bill for this amateur-hour bond-rigging circus will come due in absolute ruin — and these two clowns won't pay a single fucking cent of it.
BREAKING: CNN's fact-checker exposes an AVALANCHE OF LIES from Trump about Canada — and there's a new one almost every day.
Donald Trump doesn't just have policy disagreements with Canada. According to CNN's chief fact-checker Daniel Dale, who happens to be Canadian himself, Trump has built his entire trade war narrative on a foundation of demonstrably false claims — and the lies keep coming.
Just today, Dale documented, Trump falsely claimed Canada's unemployment rate is "10% and rapidly rising." The actual number: 6.4%, and it's been DECLINING for three straight months. Trump also falsely claimed Canada does "95% of its business with the US." The real figure is 72%.
He blamed the entire US-Canada trade deficit on high Canadian agricultural tariffs, despite the fact that roughly 97% of US agricultural exports to Canada are already tariff-free, and the actual deficit stems overwhelmingly from cheap Canadian crude oil imports that benefit American consumers.
And that's just today's batch. Dale's running tally over the past 18 months reads like a highlight reel of fabrication.
Trump has falsely claimed Canada doesn't buy American agricultural products, when it's actually the world's SECOND-LARGEST buyer of them. He's falsely claimed Canadians support becoming America's 51st state, when polling shows overwhelming opposition.
He's falsely claimed Canada is among the world's highest-tariff nations, when World Trade Organization rankings place it near the bottom. He's falsely claimed Canada "essentially doesn't have a military," ignoring that Canadian forces have fought alongside American troops in multiple wars and rank in the upper half of NATO by force size.
He's also falsely inflated the US trade deficit with Canada to "$200 billion" (nowhere close), falsely claimed Canada bans American banks (more than a dozen currently operate there), falsely claimed Canada is "constantly surrounded" by Chinese and Russian ships (fiction), and falsely accused former PM Trudeau of using trade tensions to run for reelection — despite Trudeau, quite obviously, not running.
This isn't policy disagreement. This is a dispute over the nature of reality!
This is a sitting president manufacturing an entire economic conflict with one of America's closest allies using numbers he simply invented, over and over, across nearly two years, with virtually no correction or accountability.
When the facts don't support your trade war, apparently the solution is just to make up new facts. Someone needs to tell Trump that the world doesn’t work like that, and it may as well be CNN’s Daniel Dale.
Please like and share if you’re sick of Trump’s lies!
@ctyankee007@cspanwj@RadioFreeTom I know. All they do now is talk. We're lucky to have 6 calls in an hour for a guest. Even if they had a rule of up to 2 minutes for a question and up to 5 for an answer!
I keep thinking about the fact that he's read them.
Not that they exist. Not that they're sealed. That a man who spent years as Trump's personal defense attorney has sat down with the Epstein files, gone through them page by page, and then decided the rest of us don't need to.
There's no judge involved in that. No court order. It's a choice one person made at a desk.
I don't know what's in them. Neither do you. He does.

I’m happy to share this because I don’t care what side of the aisle you sit on, this is a fact.
Speaker Mike Johnson this is for you.
Concerning Social Security payments, my contributions were made for over 50 years on every salary I received. From my first part time job until I retired. I always had a job.
The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a "Federal Benefit Payment?" I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you. Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.
The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit. It is our money paid out of our earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too.
It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
Congress took our money and used it elsewhere. They forgot (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking.
They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them. And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer. And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit", as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they borrowed the money doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!
Let's take a stand. We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.
Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it. Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.
99% of people won't forward this to their timelines…..will you?
Please, for the sake of our country, repost this.
Man, I'll tell ya, those farmers.... Those farmers had it so good... USAID, SNAP, cheap labor and fertilizer, great trade deals and they voted it all away...
And for what? Just to be racist.
You can either own the libs or you can own your farm.
But apparently you can't own both.
All those "liberal/commie policies" they pretended to hate was actually what made them so prosperous and were among the biggest beneficiaries in the country of said policies.
But they threw it all away for an 80 year old racist pedo.
Excellent job farmers. You sure did show us. Man, I feel so owned.
@CSpanreview@cspanwj You think maybe the leftist nut-jobs were there to actually ask real questions instead of softball 'i kiss Trump's ass' questions.
DONALD TRUMP HAS SET THE WORLD RECORD FOR HAVING THE LOWEST APPROVAL IN HISTORY. KIDNEY STONES, MIGRAINES, AND DIARRHEA NOW HAVE A HIGHER APPROVAL THAN DONALD TRUMP. THAT'S TALENT.
@cspanwj@benoitfaucon Mimi sure loves talking about Iran e wry time she is on she has a segment on Iran. How about we talk about what Trump is doing to Canada ? Lynn/ MA
Ossoff knows he has Trump and the White House triggered over Natalie Harp 👇
Ossoff: It’s been amazing to watch this White House melt down over this all week. And about Natalie Harp, these White House staffers are adults, public officials paid by the taxpayer, with immense power in positions of public trust. And whether it’s Natalie Harp printing out Donald Trump’s daily dose of delusion and flattery, or Peter Navarro steering taxpayer-funded loans to Trump family investments, or Pete Hegseth deluding the president daily into deepening this quagmire in the Middle East, no one cares about their feelings.
The sailors on the Lincoln are fighting his war, a war based on lies, while he plays with his new ballroom, flies around on a jet given to him by a foreign prince, and retreats into this circle of sycophantic aides who tell him every day what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear.
This entire White House is responsible for lying the country into war, and for the rest of their careers, they will be known for having participated in this obscenity.

Since Day One, Donald Trump has chosen chaos and cruelty — and by doubling down on his reckless trade war with Canada, he’s further harming our families, farmers, and small business owners.
He’s not only hurting Pennsylvanians — who are already struggling to afford basic necessities like groceries and gas because of his war of choice in Iran — he’s destroying the relationship with one of our country’s strongest allies.
Canada is Pennsylvania’s largest trading partner. And when I visited with Prime Minister Carney earlier this year, I made clear: Pennsylvania is committed to strengthening our economic partnership with Canada.
The President should follow our lead and work to make life more affordable — instead of slapping the added costs of tariffs on Americans.
Dear @hakeemjeffries
THIS and similar election day blockades happening across the country is what YOU SHOULD HAVE been working on instead of meeting privately with JARED KUSHER.
Stupid, stupid, STUPID.
