To #EndFGM, men should also teach the next generation. Raise boys to respect bodily autonomy, consent, and the law, so that the cycle ends with them.
Men of influence should use it where it matters. Elders, teachers, faith leaders...
All hands on deck.
Myths about FGM.
Myth: FGM is harmless if done medically
Fact: Medicalization is still abuse and illegal
Myth: FGM protects girls
Fact: It causes lifelong health challenges
Myth: Men support or expect FGM
Fact: Many men actively oppose FGM and are key to ending it

Ending #FGM is within our reach, but it wonโt happen on its own.

Today, @EUAmbKenya@NorwayAmbKenya@UNFPAKen@BSIKenya joined community leaders and survivors in Elgeyo Marakwet County in witnessing a public declaration to #ENDFGM.
@EUinKenya & @UNFPAKen are proud to support community voices in leading change towards a ๐ฐ๐ช free from FGM.
Elders, youth, survivors & faith leaders at one table. When a whole community says โFGM ends with usโ- thatโs when real change happens. I fully support their determination to protect the next generation. This is why we do this work. #BornPerfect ๐ช๐บ๐ณ๐ด๐ฐ๐ช@NorwayAmbKenya@ChiggaiCS
To end FGM, we must break the silos and embed prevention into health, education, and economic programs. Dialogue creates the safe spaces needed to challenge harmful norms.

Come to think of it, are there any anti-FGM chapters in the Kenyan educational curriculum? I only remember learning in History about communities that practise FGM, but not about the effects. Why have the "experts" deliberately avoided this if we need to #EndFGM?
On campus, we had a friend called Branice. She was Maasai. She ran away from home at the age of 8, when we was to be circumcised and then married off. She grew up, went to university, and in November 2024, I met her in the streets of Berlin. She brought her mother too. #EndFGM
Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a serious human rights violation. It infringes on the fundamental rights of girls and women and causes lifelong physical, sexual, and mental health issues. Ending FGM is urgent. @GPtoEndFGM@UNICEF@EUinKenya#EndFGM

Sustained investment ensures sustained progress. Any reduction in funding widens the gap between commitment and real change, risking the reversal of hard-won gains in the fight to end FGM.

I watched videos of FGM victims and itโs heartbreaking ๐ @UNICEFKenya@UNFPAKen Can the Kenyan legislators make laws that incorporate these lessons in the curriculum? Itโs about time! #endFGM
By strengthening alliances among grassroots activists, communities, governments, civil society, and the private sector, we can build a powerful social movement that challenges harmful norms and ends FGM for good. @GPtoEndFGM@UNICEF@EUinKenya#EndFGM
