Representation is essential, especially in children's literature. I'm participating in @MCChildsBookDay - check out my review of "Tofu Takes Time" by @HelenHWu with an ending that is tasty, but also really sweet #ReadYourWorld

My undergrad thesis many years ago was on how to build future civic engagement as adults during K-12. Student leadership, volunteering & service learning are huge! Schools are where Ss truly get to practice everything... incl. how to be a good citizen & community member 🌍
We each wrote a poem based on George Lyon’s poem “Where I’m From” and then picked our favourite line to make a whole-class poem. This is where we are from!

The roots rock band Dispatch has rereleased its popular antiwar anthem, “The General,” after recording it in Russian. The band said it hopes that Russian soldiers may hear the song and “question their role” in the Ukrainian invasion. https://t.co/KdyxiucTZ4
Happy International Women's Day! What are you doing today to celebrate women? (Psst -- reading books about women is, in our opinion, a great way to celebrate.😉📚) #InternationalWomensDay
Kids love to take/be given ownership! 1st, expose them to causes/tasks that resonate with them - show how they're relevant to their lives. 2nd, empower them w/ examples of young changemakers - kids are used to feeling like they "can't" in an adults' world #educatorexplorer

@PegKeiner Heartifacts - borrowing that! This is really sweet and I love the museum curation/artist statement format. I did something similar in school, picked my older brother, and showed the toy he brought to give me when I was born (a bookworm) 📕🐛

✍️ Creative geography exercise: I drew this map freehand of The Northeastward Passage, our current road trip from CO to and down the east coast - watch to track our route 🚗 when all's done it'll be 16 states, 45 days, 3800+ mi, countless friends + fam
Left CO 1 month ago: 2 weeks driving to East Coast + 2 weeks down it. Road trip and visiting fam + friends has been SO fun, but a LOT. It's reminded us why we want to slow travel when in Europe. Here's a lil on how we travel together & don't go too crazy: https://t.co/hWi0i9V93G
Our role is helping our kids learn to handle life someday without us. We must unleash so that they can learn how to make choices, good decisions, & solve their problems. But there’s a caveat: once your child settles on a choice, let it be. Don’t rescue or you’ll rob resilience
